BBC: He has changed his body shape since 2010 ...

Did Gary Player (fittest guy of the period) ever change his "body shape"?

I wouldn't be surprised but if McIlroy is doping it's pretty tragic that Angel Cabrera has won the Masters and he hasn't :D

Justin Gatlin just dominated the 200m, running 19.68 with a strong headwind. He's been dominating the 100m all year long, running 9.8 pretty much every single time. not bad for a 30+ guy to equal his best performances, week in week out, from his doped to the gills mid twenties years. All while clean (hasnt tested positive lately).

Bolt and Blake have been mysteriously unfit to race this year.
Until Bolt gets caught and Blake gets caught again and sprinting is finally treated as the tragicomedy it really is, long may Gatlin reign over us, I say. He makes the hypocrites' blood boil, at least. It was ridiculous the way the media were grieving for Gay when Gatlin "stole" his bronze medal in London. Look how that turned out.

I don't watch much golf, but was shocked when I turned onto the British Open this morning and saw Rory "Arnold" McIlroy. Dude's neck has doubled in size since I last saw him:eek: Also his face seems fatter (now I know as you age your face fills out, but he looks odd to me)...between him and Woods, Rory looks more unnatural. Seems fishy to me.

Leanest guy in this TUF season 17 - Josh Samman - ridiculous definition, and covered in acne. Tears a muscle in a fight he wins, and talks about another time he tore the muscle in a similar way.

But the acne - on his face and shoulders. Seems strange at 25.

Tell tale signs?

Pretty much:

Tendonitis - check
Acne - check
Ridiculous definition - check

Sounds like anabolics.

This is too rich:

Queen's Gold Cup-winning racehorse Estimate tests positive for banned drug morphine
The Queen has been informed that Estimate, which won the Gold Cup last year and came second in this year's race, is one of five horses to test positive for the banned substance

The Queen of England pushes PEDs?

I've been chuckling about this all afternoon since I saw it on Reuters.

Those Royals have always seemed a dodgy lot to me ;)
(I almost choked on my breakfast when the Young Royals co-opted the opening stage of the Tour for 'a blessing' Give me a Kardashian any day!)

Anyway, this will probably wind up being attributed to inadvertent Remembrance poppy consumption - on with the show! Tilt of the head, thin smile, wan wave

They are blaming the horse feed being contaminated. Isnt it odd that every doping case is from contaminated food. Why would morphine be in horse feed ??

It's obviously to numb the taste buds so that the horsies don't mind the bad food.:D

I can't think of a UFC fighter I believe doesn't use steroids.

The women in the finals episode were incredible fighters, and very well built. So probably not even there.

Proving IAAF is as bad as the UCI when it comes to anti-doping, Powell and Simpson get significantly reduced bans.

Unbelievable.

Wait, no, THIS is unbelievable: JADCO has to pay Powell and Simpson's arbitration costs.

Athletes test positive in a NADO that was being used to "never test positive" outside Jamaica and CAS says JADCO is the problem.

Now you know CAS is as big a joke as the IOC sanctioned sports federations.

Science in Sport sums things up in a little more balanced way: http://sportsscientists.com/2014/07/powell-simpsons-bans-cut-6-months-broad-implications/

I fear for the pressure my daughter may come under if she shows any sort of ability in sports.

I know there are the other kind of situations where kids end up doping, but that doesn't have to be your family's situation. Talking to your kid everyday about their day *in detail* helps set good conditions for covering a tough topic. Really though, likely MUCH more important to the kid will be learning how to deal with her peers in far more ordinary ways.

Maybe she does come under pressure, and if she does, you are the parent and this is your opportunity to be a parent and turn it into a great teaching moment.

I also happen to teach the view that all the way up to late teens, some kids do better treating competition not as win/lose, but setting goals to improve their own skills and see how they rank as a result. In that context, doping is not valuable and won't be valuable in any way.

I speak from direct, personal, experience with my child.

NSAC gave Chael Sonnen a 2-year suspension for his two consecutive failed controls, no fine. Considering he'd already announced his retirement from MMA, and both the UFC and Fox Sports already had discharged him, this essentially is a non-punishment.

EDIT:
Vitor Belfort has been granted a license to fight in Nevada against Chris Weidman at UFC 181. Belfort had a positive OOC for testosterone in January, but has never received any sanctioning for the offense. They closest they came was to require that the fight be scheduled no earlier than this coming December, and Belfort must submit to (and pay the expense of) regular "enhanced" blood and urine tests.

He should have just obtained a TRT. Low natural testosterone is apparently the hallmark of the modern elite athlete* in a sport where strength is paramount.

Mo Farah pulls out of the Commonwealth Games, citing prior illness.

He's staying at his training base in Font Romeu though. Perhaps he hasn't got his cycling quite right.

He hasn't been right since he started his marathon training. I do believe he is legitimately ill, but that the group's/coach's manipulation of his hormone/blood profile is to blame. That kind of manipulation is new territory scientifically, and the stress of marathon training with Salazar's intensive style could not be sustained.
