And you don't want Niki Terpstra as your last man. Why not use an actual sprinter, like Gert Steegmans?

Steegmans is awful in placing himself and defending position. On pure speed and qualities you would think he is nearly as perfect as a last man can be, but in reality he just isn't.

Did he get back into the train today after that the front wheel problem? Seemed liked OPQS got to just under 1K and left Cav to his own devices. Great ride by him. Horrible day for Griepel and Lotto

So close again for Viviani. Does he need one of those positional coaches from American Football?

Those 8 seconds could be crucial now. I fancied Durbridge with just a 9 second deficit but 17 seconds on Chavanel in just 14.75km is going to be difficult..

Yeah, with the form Chavanel is in, Luke won't make back that time. No way.

If GreenEDGE are after a stage win, they should let Luke relax on the first stage today. I would concede the overall and go for a stage win and their best for that is obviously Luke in the TT.

Boonen as last man in the Tour?

He looked really motivated in this stage (2) and really strung it out - I guess he was doing the early part of the train to stay out of trouble.

And it is now official that his national kit >> bouhanni

Turbo Durbo and Heppy will take one and two in tomorrow's TT

Hepburn is not within top 120. According to the rules he is not allowed to start the TT then. Fortunately for him, many riders will leave the race today before the time trial, so normally he can ride the TT.

He did win a stage at the Tour of Denmark last year, which just happened to be an early morning stage before an ITT in the afternoon/evening. He has a knack for these split stages, apparently.

Ah, I see Cav didn't win ;)

BS about a lottery, Modolo was on his wheel and simply couldn't come past.

Alright, 2 people won the lottery and he won the sprint between those 2.

BS to pretend it was a straight up sprint - most people were taken out by the course. Ironically, the stage was won by the team which was repeatedly dropped in eschelons no one could be bothered to maintain.

Same for Michel Kreder, all his victories are stages of around 100 kms. But for him it's the only type of stage he really performs, as he lacks a certain amount of endurance. Kristoff should be able to get a big one soon though.

Got to hate that young rider hypes (in this case Hepburn). Sure very talented guy, but he didn't show anything yet at proranks. (apart from 4th in TT Slovenia) What makes you think he'll beat the likes of Chavanel, Terpstra, Westra, ...

Moser got overhyped also, he is one of the best talents but please don't expect him to race for victory in MSR.

If Hepburn gets a top-10 that's a good result.

Eager to see Arndt's performance in the TT. 13th on GC atm and he used to be a decent TT'er. Lampaert should also do an okey TT.

He was an absolute monster for McEwen back in the day, but I agree, he screws up far too often.

seems to me he is living a good life based on some performances long ago. A bit like Devolder.

He did very well as a domestique in Gent-Wevelgem and Paris-Roubaix last year.
