Nice stage. I love echeons :D . What a pity there are none in TDF.

There have been ...in 2013, 2009 come to mind as significant

2015 (Zeeland) and 2016 (even on way to the Ventoux) had echelons too.

I know, we had 2-3 stages with echelons and the famous stage 11. Stage I started to like Froome.

It looks like that was another great day of racing in Belgium! Shame I missed the stage though. Congrats to Kristoff and Phil looks much better for the overall.

Anyone know what happened to Durbridge? I didn't get to watch today...
He just missed the split when echelons happened,
his group eventually gave up chasing
not much turbo I suppose ;)
and dropped back to the main peloton.

Such a good race to remind yourselves how many ways there are to make the race and what you need to win it.

You can clearly see Gilbert enjoying riding at the moment and he does not preserve his strength looking for a real workout whenever he has the opportunity. Today he takes his turns with ease and is most likely on an even better level come Sunday in RVV.

Impossible to close a gap on your own. But the sad thing was, Kittel and a teammate bridged when the gap was still only 100 m - he should've been there but also missed that second chance. Good lesson for him.
(but having a few stong teammates would also have helped)

That was a great finish, but Gilbert really shouldn't have pulled in that group.

Gilbert's GC is more important than Kittel's stage win.

Completely right with your post - Though Orica went into the race with only 6 riders and Juul-Jensen DNF stage 1 and Keukeliere DNS stage 2. So Orica had 4 riders - Tough to compete with Etix' 8 riders - Predicted yesterday this may happen.

Great racing and what a sprint by Kristoff!

Theuns did the fastest sprint of all, came from to far behind though...
Come on, of course those coming from behind are fastest, they profit the most from the slipstream.
