I tapped on the car to get the driver's attention and tell him to stop, of course I was met by aggression. These people just don't realise how their actions are putting the lives of cyclists and pedestrians at risk. I saw the same guy in the evening of the same day as I was leaving the movie theatre and I thought he was going to physically attack me, luckily he restrained himself and only gave me a push and yelled a bunch of obscenities.

Just look at this thread's title; Driving into cyclists the Emma way. Of course I can't be 100% sure, but I still have a feeling Emma isn't a guy...![]()

On a lark, just a few years ago, one season I kept a running tally of the numbers of motorists I could visually detect were talking on their mobile as they drove past me cycling, categorised according to their sex. Based on the raw numbers, without regard for which sex was better represented in the total number, I will tell you that I counted eight times (8x) as many members of one sex using the mobile as the other. For fear of banishment, I will not say which sex was the greater offender, but you don't have to be a nukular rocket surgeon to deduce it for yourself.RedheadDane said:Trust me; girls can be idiots too!...
Disgusting that in spite of blatant footage, there is no charge from policeStingray34 said:More rank d!ck-headery courtesy of a Brisbane Audi driver. Explain this one:

Thank you to the driver who filmed this and stopped to render assistance.

Seeing this dehumanising attitude more often in English-speaking countries.

Same old story, same people addicted to their cars and all the hubris that comes with it. I can't tell you how it disgusts me how willfully circumscribed and thoughtless such people can be, not realizing that the same motorized travel has dehumanized us, has turned us into unthinking, lazy and mindless idiots, who sit on our fat arses all day being idle; and yet all we hear is how “hard working” we have become instead of the completely callous people we actually are who are out of touch with the physical nature of our own bodies.
They should be condemned to have to ride 10 k a year in court, as a reality check, just to get back in touch with their own nature and perhaps learn a bit of philosophy along the way.
Stingray34 said:You're exactly right, of course. We're blindly led away from compassion and citizenship into atomised consumers, constantly 'competing' with every other so-called individual. We're told this is the way it's always been.
Check out the previous post from 42x16ss. A cyclist was doored in Melbourne by three charmless, entitled suits and they want to blame her for following the road rules they blatantly disregarded.
BTW, how's you recovery coming along? Any news on the legal front?

A woman was car doored in the Melbourne CBD yesterday evening by some men leaving a cab. It's not a very smart idea moving up on the left when there is no shoulder in peak hour traffic but there is no excuse for the behaviour of these bogan louts. Good thing this woman had a Go Pro on the bars.

Some typically ignorant comments here but if the poll, as well as the majority of responses are anything to go by people are realising what is and isn't unacceptable behaviour.

rhubroma said:Thanks, well I'm much better than in the first week. But it's still a long haul. And the weather's been fantastic lately...and everybody raced on Sunday except me at Lago di Bracciano...and the form goes down and down day after day...all that work to waste...![]()

this sounds familiar - been off the bike for just over a month with injury issues just watching the weight go back on and fitness die. Going to be a long road back...
I feel your pain. Good luck on your recovery

No mention of who was to blame but, looking at the smashed bikes and car, it's amazing that no one was killed.
