Great sprint from Viviani. He held off Cavendish and Kristoff with ease.

Tell you what Groenewegen seemed to come up really fast then. Wonder if with better positioning that Viviani could stay with him!
Seems like Hennessy could pick up a few sprints for MS Bike Exchange - Groenewegen seems to have taken a step forward in 2018 - I rate him on a par with Ewan so will be interested to see how both progress this year.

I think that Groenewegen is certainly a better pure sprinter than Ewan. I read somewhere that he even had the highest recorded speed at some of the Tour-stages - even higher than Kittel.yaco said:

For me last year they were almost equal (altough Groenewegen usually beats him by a slim margin in their fair duels),but the difference is that the dutchman is progressing each year more than Caleb, you just have to compare the Groenenewegen of 2015 with the current version, an impresive improvement in these years, only Kittel and Gaviria are better than him, others like Ewan, Viviani, Greipel or Demare are on a similar level but defenitevely not in a higher one.

Cavendish said that he doesn`t care about his result as long as he isn`t winning. He stated that finishing 4th or 2nd makes no difference to him.
I wonder if his teammates and sponsor think the same when it comes to World Tour points and prize money.
He could have finished second today but gave up early and finished 4th.

Cav has always been like that and that's what caused him to lose green in 2010.
Than they lost and gained no world tour points on his placement because this race isn't part of the world tour.
