Wow Nizzolo!!
Wow Kittel! He was supposed to get dropped at the first speed bump but he actually came in sixth!

He was in the same shape two years ago in this race, winnig a sprint out of a reduced bunch. Of course not the dam, but also a steep hill in the final.

I am really looking forward to the first battle between him and Greipel in Algarve. And hopefully he will ride La Classicissima.

They have options enough even if he doesn't make it to the final with Gaviria or even Stybar. Also Boonen, who already was in the top 5 on 3 occasions. I doubt that Kittel will ever be a contender for San Remo. But like we say in Germany: One has already seen a horse puke in front of a pharmacy. Meaning that even the most improbable things can happen. So who knows? Kittel and Dan Martin seem to be very motivated to get early wins for their new team. Maybe that will give them wings. I certainly won't mind another German winner after Ciolek. :D

I find it odd that Swift attacked - I think of him as having the same kind of repertoire as Lobato.

He does indeed have similar attributes to Lobato, although I don't know how proven his sprint is on a 20% ramp. Anyway SKY must have believed in Viviani for keeping his leader's jersey.

An attack by Swift would have been a bad idea for keeping the jersey too, though.

He didn't really attack, he was more marking the 2 Astana riders

Re: Dubai Tour - February 3-6, Dubai AE 2.HC

Would be happy for Nizzolo if he won... he doesn't get many stage wins but he could focus more on overalls in these types of races IMO. Not always try to be "just" a sprinter, cause that way he will always only get his 1 or 2 wins a season.

He won Tour de Wallonie a few years ago, which always has one stage that finishes with a "Mur" (I forgot the name), so this could be a similar feat :)

Kittel dominating, but what the *** was Nizzolo doing? He just had to follow his team or Kittel and he would've won the GC.

Viviani was close to Kittel at least... Cavendish completely dropped by those two.

Close.. Meh I don't think so. He was close yes, but not close to beating Kittel at all.

lol @ Tinkof few kms before the finishline. As soon as Juraj Sagan had to pull it was all over. Guy's on the WT only because of his brother.
You do realize that other competing trains were pulled by the likes of Tony Martin and Cancellara though?

Juraj is no good. But Boaro + Tosatto + Gatto + Gogl + Bennati + Blythe (not necessarily in that order) could be a brilliant leadout train for Sagan.

yes i do.
also i do realize that as soon as his team mate wanted to leave for JS to pull, he (1st guy) just had to get back to the front cause JS wasn't able to pull even for few meters.
they (Tinkoff) don't even nominate the guy for the WT races for years now...

Yeah that was Boaro. I remember that in the Giro, Mortirolo stage, Contador kept pushing Kreuziger to keep pulling, and then Manuele appeared out of nowhere and went directly to the front :) He's a powerhouse I hope he gets picked up by a nice team after Tinkoff explodes.

Swapping Cavendish for Kittel was the right move it seems. Tony is thrilled about it, Lidl pleased aswell and Kittel probably costs alot less and will bring in more victories I believe.
