Crazy being a Dane right now! They win everything at moment and are included in all finals in all types of races!

all the team tactic talk still doesn't do enough justice to Asgreen though.

He was freakishly strong. Especially on the flat/downhill parts. They barely gained anything, if it all there. And most of the time even lost a couple of seconds. Obviously he dropped some time when they were going all out on the uphill climbs. But still.

And then after only a couple of kms recovering he still had something in the tank to attack and solo for another 5km. I'm absolutely gobsmacked by his ability to do that. He has a massive engine...

Not a single Vini Zabu rider finished the race, why do you even invite a team that is one of the weaker pct teams and lacks the kind of riders who could do something on this kind of route? Back when they had Pozzato sure, but nowadays?

On my "err what happened there" list I have Matthews, Gilbert, Mads P DNF. Oh and EF, only 1 finisher in 44th place

Yeah from what we saw from Zoccarato during Nokere-Koerse, Bardiani would have been the better Italian choice.

I mean, it doesn't have to be an Italian team, B&B and Delko would also add a lot more than Vini Zabu. A one day races for the pure sprinters yeah, they can bring Jakub and a decent train, but they don't have the riders for the cobbled classics.

Matthews was good but crashed later on they said on Sporza.

Gilbert was nowhere
Mads P was shown dropping on a hill far from the line
EF was ***.

I suppose for a few of those it could've been classic case of "Too far behind for the fun placings now, might as well quit and prepare for Sunday."

But what if it's male?
Bull. For some ungulates (in English) cow definitely means a female, because the general name for the species is different, for example, elk or moose. For the domestic variety “cow” is also the generic name for the species. When the Farmer-in-the Dell’s cow goes “moo”, its not assumed it’s female (though it probably was). Mad -cow disease isn’t just the females.

MVDP saying he was good today but definitely not super. He is still feeling the effects of the Italian races.

Maybe next time he’ll not overexert himself?

Also says that it’s a shame Wout wasn’t with him in the final, they did most of the work in the chase and paid the price at the end. Wout was dropped on the Tiegemberg and he wasn’t as fresh anymore either.

Good to see he realizes that he needs Wout in order to disrupt the Steppers team tactics.

He says Asgreen was really strong but he did most of the work in chase to reel him back in and expected him to go again but did not expect he had that much left in him. If he did chase again he’d just cook himself cause then another Stepper would attack.

He basically got caught in the team tactics laid out by Lefevre some time ago.

Very impressive stuff by Quickstep, if you don’t have the best racer than you have to so it in numbers. Great stuff. Great race.

Van Aert said his tyre was losing air very slowly and he had to ride with it for a while because there was no ideal moment to change wheels/bikes. He felt good in the final and didn't feel his bonk coming, but maybe he had wasted too much energy by then. Says DQT deserves the victory this way, obviously he's a fanboy.

This explains it. He definitely wasted too much energy by then. I would have loved to see Him and VDP vs the Wolf right at the end.
