Re: Cannondale-Drapac
Just saw the information that Bettiol joins BMC. I'm sad. I thought he was one of the guys that Cannondale had a good chance to stick with. He was making a good progress, there was a niche in which he had an undisputed leadership in the team (those which require both rolling/sprinting and punchuer's ability) and generally seemed to be positive about the team.
Now with Formolo and Villella being rumoured to join other teams as well and Uran also receiving some interest, it might turn out to be a bad transfer period for the Slipstream team. Just when there are rumours that they are about to increase their budget. Ironic, how they have been able not to lose the quality of their roster over years despite tiny budget but they're now at risk of losing it when things are rumoured to get better financially.
But we'll see. I had thought that 2015-->2016 transfer period was going to be very painful for Cannondale, but Vaughters managed to sign riders like Uran, Rolland and Clarke out of nowhere (they were rumoured to join other teams, then bang, there's a confirmation that they join Cannondale) and I hope something like this happens this year too.
And I've realised there is a general trend over years that they come quite good in 2nd part of the summer. This year it seems to be the case again, with riders like Wippert and Slagter (shame he was involved in crash yesterday in Poland) suddenly being able to compete at a WT level out of nowhere.
