All the riders will be tested this evening or tomorrow on the resting day, so the results will probably be known before the start on Tuesday. The other riders of M-S had a negative test, but we'll have to wait to know if there are others. Hopefully not.

Two other riders from Mitchelton-Scott have already abandoned so it is possible that room-mate was already out.

I'm not so scared. Riders getting confectious diseases is unlikely to be a new thing, and it's not like this is infinitely more contagious than the common cold or the flu, and we quite rarely see entire pelotons (or indeed large parts) falling victim to the same disease during a race...
COVID mostly relies on super spreaders so if theres none of them in the peloton I think they should be fine.

Kruijswijk positive. A Sunweb rider too.

I understand intra-team spread of the virus, but it is unclear if the new cases are because the bubbles have been compromised or if it is passed on between teams.

Why does it have to be the big favourites (do NOT mention the word voodoo)?!

I really hope the Sunweb rider is not Kelderman or Matthews.

With five positives in a week M-S had to withdraw, even if there isn't a strict rule about this.

Kruijswijk comes completely out of the blue. He has no symptoms. He has a lot of bad luck in his career. His attempts to win the Giro seem doomed...

Van Emden was interviewed and he said Jumbo had been at a buffet where there had been people from outside the apparently shambolic bubble.

I just wanna stress again, while it's true that for some reason some people are more likely to contaminate the people they're around than others, a key ingredient to being a super spreader is surrounding yourself with a lot of people. Which these riders of course are doing.
