But it's not really the question if Wynants response was correctly.

It's about the fact: do you want that kind of behaviour in the peloton?

All my posts have been consistent with my opinion. I can see a lot of Dutch people (surprise surprise) have a different opinion.

That's just a stupid assumption. Terpstra is a Dutchmen too, so that's no reason at all. And i think a lot of Dutch cycling fans on this forum are no Belkin fans at all. I'm definitely not.

Forgetting the Terpstraporn for a minute, I really enjoyed the ENECO this year. Nice race.

Well Terpstra got us occupied in a dud last stage. Great Eneco for the rest, I thought one of the best WT races this year

Dutch rider on Belgian team bodychecks Belgian rider on Dutch team. How would this influence the Dutch forumists' opinion? (other than maybe knowing Terpstra a bit better and knowing that he can be a right old a.sehole)

Heres Terpstra's reaction (google translated)

The Dutchman Omega Pharma-QuickStep was after not even imagine that his action would constitute a sanction.

"I was not in the way I think, should I let myself get pushed off the road something? I only stopped him. Im not gonna let someone like Wynants push me aside," grumbled Terpstra.

"To continue to drive at my spot I still get no punishment. He pushes me away and I give a push back. I think it looked more spectacular than it was."

It is clear at least that Terpstra and Wynants no friends. The Beverwijker is not going to talk. Incident "I say nothing against him, hes a bit of a crybaby."

Precisely.

There was no reason for Terpstra to be on the front besides trying to stop the chase on Van Keirsbulck. It's already kind of not done to do this, but how Terpstra was doing this.... really rude. Just trying to push Wynants off his bike. There's no way to defend this. I like Terpstra as a rider, but this really changes my opinion on him.

Just confirms the image of Terpstra as being a horrible person and arrogant piece of **** off the bike.

lol hilarious if it's true that he got a penalty for that.

i watched that youtube and expected a punch in wynants face or something. saw this in pretty every two race i watched. and yes niki is kind of an aszhole i agree but c'mon, these are men, you can't whine after a little touch

So if someone slaps you in the face, you run away?

It's a human reaction. I think Wynants responded really good. If you have more of a gangstar on a bike, he would beat Terpstra's *** out.

100 procent correct ... Wynants has no fault he was just defending himself from ridiculous intimidation. They should give terpstrat a last warining ... next time he can join Riccardo Ricco....

[...]

And the rest of the article:

Later bood Terpstra in een persbericht van Omega Pharma-QuickStep zijn excuses aan voor het incident. "Zoiets doe je gewoon niet in het peloton. Ik wist even niet wat ik deed."

Later Terpstra apologized in a press conference for the incident. "Such things, you just don't do it. For a moment I didn't know what I did."

Okay case closed, then.

But since Terpstra races for Quick Step, he's no longer the same. I was a fan of his, at Milram. Shame. :(

In a mass sprint things like that can happen but here there was space enough to pass and Wynandts was just doing his work. It was a mad body check you rather expect in american football.

He should have been DQ and got a warning.

It s the intention that counts and the fact that there was no single good reason to act in such a way ....

And those who say it happens every 2 races can Always show me the footage like JDC said it was du jamais vu( never seen before).

Press officer did his/her work here.
Don't know why anyone would do that, really. It's rude, pointless and random, and the camera is right in front. Idiotic. They're right to punish him.

Btw: I was impressed with... Marcel Sieberg today. Really great work he did.

Well it doesn't belong in a race.

But because it's Terpstra (and OPQS ), i'm not surprised. Mainly the reason why the guy isn't populair in the pro peloton and by the Dutch cycling fans.
I never knew that. Why? I always thought he seemed like a cool guy off the bike but then I don't speak Dutch. :p
He's always been my favorite Dutch rider.

Do we know what happened before the first push? Terpstra alluded to Wynants doing something but it doesn't seem clear.

Obviously his actions were uncalled for, as was Wynants retaliation.
