Probably thinking if he made it he could get some gap, and after following Van Emden he was already up there so why not. It didn't work, but meh, at least he tried.

Yeah, I think he found himself at the front with a tiny gap and decided to go for it, he sprinted all the way up the climb but just ran out of legs by the top.

Edvald was isolated, and hit the front too early. Guess he thought, "f*** em', I'll go for it."

Nice try, but I guess his legs was screaming the last 100m.

Chapeau to McEwen, nice win for the old man.

He just followed Sky's now legendary trademark move. Hit the front 400m too early.
Maybe he had an imaginary lead-out man in front of him, as that was probably the plan? Would've thought that Team Sky would understand the "wind- get to the front" technique by now but apparently not. With for example Geraint Thomas to help him there at the end he would probably have made it, but he was most likely chatting with the other sky boys at the back of the peloton once it started splitting up.

Then he blew by changing his tune when he saw it was uphill.

Considering Carlton can rarely identify the winner of a stage, even if he is watching the guy cross the finishing line, im going to overlook his change of tune. He got one right, and it was a dark horse as well.

The move by Edvald today was pretty much his signature move when he was an amateur, he always attacked about 1 km before the line when it was an uphill sprint and it worked 10/10 times, but I guess it doesn't work quite that well at this level.

Im a bit confused about EBH's act as well...maybe the aim was to send a message to Sagan and Gilbert. That he can climb, sprint and almost attack properly.

Since you seem to know everything, can you tell us who it was, as the race ticker called Soler.

I can't believe announcers didn't see it wasn't soler. Losada crashed and broke his collarbone he is out. soler was held up by the crash and asked in radio if he should wait, they told him to go and he went. he's still in the race.

Zzz, my recording failed as usual as the race ran "overtime".

Nice to see Robbie win though, will have to catch the replay.

What was the size of the finishing group? Who did they leave behind?

about 100 guys I think, castroviejo was dropped for sure

The race ticker?

The race was live on Sporza. Soler didn't fall, he was held up by the fall of Gianni Meersman just like 50 others. He was never on the ground though, unlike Losada (who gave up).

Yes. Soler was posted on here.
It didn't look like Soler to me and the Eurosport commentators had no idea, so I went to the ENECO site. They had it as Soler and Meersman. Soler got posted on other forums too and nobody updated until RH pointed it out.

I had thought my eyes were deceiving me, but obviously, they weren't.

Rimes bad with the fact that he is one of the worst descenders in the world. ;)

he's very inconsistant downhiller. I've sene him nearly drop di luca in milano torino downhil in 2007. but he can also ride very bad downhills, if he knows a downhill well he's very good but when he doesn't know he is quite bad, although not increidbly bad just look at the 2007 galibier downhil which wasn't too bad, but not good either.
