Also credit to Denmark they played their game really well, and didn't just sit back when the got the ball... They went for it.

Anyway a very good game to watch.

Lol. The Wasteful orange bite the dust. Van Persie was horrible and Huntelaar fluffed his only chance, Snejder was great though.

Agree, a penalty should've been given to the dutch for the handball incident, but it was more off **** the dutch players. Had they converted their chances, no need to blame the Ref:D

Refvisnt to blame, we simply did not make the most of our many many chances a lot of which were very good chances.

I understand the penalty call, but I'm not gonna blame this loss on him.

Yeah, maybe for the first time since '98 Denmark's not gonna suck at a final tournament.

Watched that in a bar. 6 of us Russians, two more Russians we didn't know joined us, and about 50 dutchies. I don't know what they cried more from, their precious team losing, or us showing them how to cheer for your team properly

Still, dutch are better than belgians (I'm still in full butthurt mode from that game 10 years ago) :)

Where are you living?

BTW Russia was ****ing fenomenal, just love the way they played.

08 was just when I finished university, so that was Canada then

This year's gonna be even better, anything past group stage (provided Russia don't **** up) I'll be watching in a village bar in a village of 4000 in Russia. Only problem it's +4 hours from CET, having to get up to work 7:00 next day

Anyway, hoping for a tie b/w Germany and Portugal to make things really interesting

Portugal starting to crack. It will be hard to keep it ths thight endlessly. No solutions to launch a (counter-)attack. No quality in the pass when they get the ball.

It will be a long game. Bitting may nails. Also. I stand by what I wrote. Miguel Lopes should have entered this game instead of João Pereira. The only advantage of keeping the latter over Lopes is speed and quick transition to the attack. But he is only defending and struggling at that.

Oh and do German fans on the arena do anything else than whistle and throw paper? They could...I don't know...support their team?

Dont tell me about. You levelled us in technical skills, system organization and the tempo and efforts made as well.

Russia is looking really strong, best team so far. Can't wait to see in what form are the French and Croats. Those 2 can make a surprise.

Germany were not great but portugal were pretty defensive too and they are a good team so it's a good win for the germans add in holland losing it's a good day for them... Strange though last few tournaments I watched of the germans they were pretty fast paced and direct but today they were so slow getting up the pitch and enjoyed passing it back to teh goalie :S few blunders from the defence that luckily didnt cost them, they will need to improve to win obviously but it is not a bad day for them... Probably need to drop podolski too he was just bad again

Ah, tense and dramatic games today, Portugal and Holland were so close to equalising. Onwards!

Yeah, both teams were being very careful, took few risks for the first hour or so. Maybe typical for a first game in these tournaments.

I'd normally like to see Ireland with an uspet. Sadly I have a bet on Croatia as the overall victor so they will be my team for tonight. As I wrote above I have Jelavic to score 5-6 in the tournament. He'll get the first 4 tonight. ;)

Of course I'm overhyping them. They are no where near favorites of winning anything. I wouldn't take my posts about Croatia too serious because that's not my intention and I didn't quite expect anyone actually would.
