He is strong. People, who don't follow him closely, quickly forget how strong his peak is. Basically everytime he showed vulnerability in the last 5 years it was because of a crash, injury or illness. When he is free of those, he is a force and very close to Pogačar in stage races IMO. In one day races he is a level below, except for Emilia and Milano-Torino where he is a level above haha.

Now let's bring home Catalunya. It won't be easy but he is one of the very few riders who can match Remco on the Montjuic circuit.

Yeah that was borderline F1 style weaving but Evenepoel is somewhat redeemed for saying nice things about Roglič after the stage, i.e. he called him his "idol". Nice words are always... welcome. It's always better than than riding after him screaming "f-you!!!"

It was a fantastic duel to watch on TV in any case.

He is very good but he is a cheap version of Pogacar now. His force is winning uphill sprints and he can't do that against Pogacar.

His Romandie podium in 2017 is the only time he stood on the podium of one of the seven greatest one-week stage races without winning it. Since then he has won them 8 times, two times losing a win in a crash.

Yes and in 2017 he wasn't yet the Roglic we know now. Back then he was more of an exellent TT rider who defended himself on the climbs. Since the beginning of 2018 he won every short WT stage race he entered bar Dauphine 2020, PN 2021 (both comfortably in the lead before the last stage, but crashed) and Itzulia 2022 (where he was riding slightly injured).

And Tirreno in 2018, but that was crash related as well.

I think we've seen the few guys that'll outsprint Pogi in the last week. That's now and not a stage race, 2-3 weeks in. Let's give the Old Guy some respect for coming back from a death many had assigned to his career.

It's always exciting to follow the progress of young and talented cyclists like this. While 3rd place in a stage in Algarve might not be a huge success, it's definitely a positive sign, especially considering the fact that he's dealing with a bad shoulder. It's impressive that he's only been cycling since 2012 and has already achieved so much.
It sounds like this is a learning year for him, and it's great that he has the opportunity to be a climbing domestic for Kruijswijk in the Giro. With his talent and potential, it's definitely possible that he could achieve some important results in the future. It will be interesting to see how he develops over the next few years and whether he can become a better allrounder.
It's also exciting to see comparisons to other successful climbers like Landa. While he might not reach the same climbing level, it's great to see that he has the potential to be just as successful in his own right. It's always fun to follow the careers of young and talented cyclists and see how they progress over time.
