Slovenian national championship road race will be held on 21st of June - so good two weeks from now. It will be a difficult race with a mountain top finish. The organisers knew that it would be hard to get the top guys to race if it was held in August so they are going ahead with an early date. All the top gusy (the ones in the picture Le Quack posted) confirmed their participation. So either a breakaway wins or it will be a Pogačar vs Roglič battle on the last climb.

For Primož it will actually be the first race of the season and he seemed pretty motivated in the interviews.

It should be a 8km at almost 8% MTF . The question is what does the rest of the route look like. Some rumors say it's completely flat, others say it's with a short but steep hill. We'll know more in a couple of days I guess.

Anyway it won't be easy for Rogla or Pogi. Bahrain McLaren is the best team by far. They have won the last three NCs.

It's a setup for a great race though. The strongest rider (Roglič) is alone, Pogačar has help in Polanc, and the strongest team with no clear favourite but with a strong group of riders (Tratnik, Mohorič, Pibernik, Novak, Bole).

Now come on, the Vuelta power numbers are higher because the riders are better overall and the contenders for the win have to fight harder, everybody knows that.

He was teammate with the Schlecks and that was a mystery to them as well. Nobody wanted to watch that, they always said.

It is a bit ironic because he was a decent descender and won stages with a downhill finish from the breakaway, like that Tour stage in 2006.

It is a bit ironic because he was a decent descender and won stages with a downhill finish from the breakaway, like that Tour stage in 2006.

That was just a flat stage (I assume you're talking about Voigt's stage win with Pereiro in the break).

Yes, the "climbs" were just false flat, but there was a longer descent before the finish.

Organizer did a good job this year, having national championship moved to June. After 140 km the end of the race should be hard enough, for a dramatic finish.

Roglič said he is happy, as he already has weight under control. He basically trains every day and plans to increase the intensity, before the altitude training. A race in June, altitude training in July and spectacular August and September cycling calendar ahead!

Great win today against a tough opponent in Pogacar. Pogacar already showed his good form this year winning Valencia and winning a stage at UAE Tour.

Happy for Primož. Tadej probably still has 10 or more tries ahead of him to become Slovenian Champion. His day will come eventually.

I'd like to see the final attack. It wasn't a sprint. You don't gain 10s and celebrate in the last 50m winning in a sprint. It was a puncher attack by Rogla. In this kind of terrain he is probably second only to Alaphilippe in today's peloton. A serious contender for LBL and FW. Remember his super attack on San Luca in Giro dell'Emilia last year.

Slovenian TV showed extended highlights of the National Championships.

Strong, strong attack by Rogla in the last 500m. He looked amazing riding in the drops of his Bianchi in the end. He remainded me of Pantani a bit. The difference is Roglič sprinted uphill for 500 meters while Il Pirata sprinted for 10km lol.

All in all a very nice victory against a tough nut to crack in Pogačar. Now onto the ITT on Sunday. It will esentially be an MTT. He is the favourite. It won't be easy because Pogačar and Tratnik are strong, but in the end he should take his second TT title in as many tries.

He has a really high base level, but he should be careful about peaking too early, otherwise it could end like the last Giro.
