Rogla wouldn't trade his Olympic gold medal for a Tour title.
Sure he wouldn't. He doesn't care about the Tour. Here are some photos to back it up:

Imagine how devastated he would be if he lost I don't know... the olympic games road race. He would be utterly inconsolable. Oh, wait... Here's the photo. Devastated!

These "would x trade z for z" discussions are so utterly bewildering, it's ridiculous.

I mean how would it even work.

Things are what they are.

I haven't yet given up on Primoz winning the TdF. Clearly the stars would need to align, but eventually all that bad luck must turn around, eh. Another Vuelta would also be nice (and yes, the minor worth of the Vuelta compared to the other Grand Tours is clear to me, as it is to everyone. But still a Grand Tour)

The purpose of “would trade / wouldn’t trade” discussions is only one: to hint that Olympics (which Rogla won) are somehow more important all of a sudden than the Tour (which Rogla didn’t win). So if Roglic never wins the Tour (which seems ever more likely) he still achieved his most important goal, which is - you guessed it - the olympics. It’s a coping mechanism if I ever saw one.

Let's just say it's 100% likely and be done with it :) Unless Abi can conjure up some ciciban race he feels is more important than the tour just to stir the pot a little...

You should know everyone else knows you have zero things to say with posts like that. Not one slightest argument at all…
Noone says that? Roglic would do anything for a Tour win, and OL and far down the list even. like people need to stop making up stuff and this one takes the cake literally :tearsofjoy:

Read yesterday’s posts.
Ill think I pass if anyone actually said that:tearsofjoy: I think its sufficient like you said coping mechanism if that's the case

Everyone knows TdF > Olympics. And even there RR>TT
But you gotta live with the hand your dealt with. No "shoulda woulda"
Yes sir. I'm here hoping for Vuelta for Roglic and that he can get some consolation price to go out with the respect he deserves.

You can't compare a three-week race where you lose on the last day and a one-day race where everything goes wrong even before the start and you're also struggling with pain from the start. So I don't think he expected a lot from that RR at Olympics. And by the way, Roglič has said many times that he does not like these comparisons and what he would change for the Tour. But one thing is for sure, he wouldn't trade olympic gold for anything. And also Giro win. The whole story behind that means so much to him.
No, it's far from "for sure". It's what you believe. Good for you. I believe the opposite - that he would trade not just Giro or Olympic gold for Tour but both of them for the Tour without hesitation. [[content deleted]]

So people now are repeating the same nonsense about the Olympics' importance in this thread as well?
The Olympics - a race that was for amateurs until 1996. A race where in 2024 we had 90 riders (half of which were amateurs or on 3rd divisions teams. ) A race where they were rolling at 100 watts for 150kms.
You will compare this ciciban race to Grand Tours, monuments or even highly prestigious one day races with history.?
Come on guys, enough with this.

However all the best classics riders were present apart from [[content removed]] one. The conditions you describe are arguments for that Olympics is more difficult to win then the typical monument where you have a team that are able too streamline the ra ce for you.

All this debate about what is more important - the Olympics or the Tour - is pointless. Of course, the Tour is more important. But some of you just don't get it that in ski jumping, an Olympic medal means the most you can achieve. And that's why it means so much to Rogla.

When asked what he would choose between yellow shirt or the Olympic gold medal, he clearly said: "I would take both."

And here I end.

Very interested to hear where you got that from - doing San Sebastian but not the Vuelta makes little to no sense to me. There's no way.

I never said that. I said that there will be plenty of opportunities involved, to win a one day race event, prestigious one, in the remainder of the season. As for missing GT, there is still opportunity for that too. So if successful on all fronts, and considering week long stage race event was won already early in the season, then the season should count as a big success. But lets not get carried away, still long way to go.
