Oh, that's dumb. But probably true.
Guess I must have imagined Lutsenko yeeting over a barrier first causing a chain reaction that brought several riders down.
I think it's normal to be angry at a guy if he causes a crash that injures one of your favourite riders

I never like dumbrowski the same way after he crashed into that signpost in Cattolica

However, is not like Roglic or his team doesn't have some responsibility in this

A barrier that was impossible to see in the middle of the peloton.

But yeah, clearly he should be banned from cycling.

Also, you expressed fascination with reaction times in the Olympics thread. My guess is that Roglic would not score very high on a test to measure that.

After the 2020 Tour edition Rogla would likely at minimum finish on the podium at each consecutive Tour edition, instead a long list of injuries was the only reward. Causes for injuries out of control when it comes to participant rider. Blaming individual rider likely makes less sense, knowing it's a system behind it making sure for such outcome to be the result, on what we can conclude, though, is Tour is a mickey mouse race, when it comes to rider safety and in general injury prevention was up until now just an afterthought.

This indeed needs to change in the future as it's not acceptable any more. Days on where you could simply do nothing and still got away with it are in my opinion now gone. All parties involved are now under scrutiny and do need to explain themself, when the unpleasant questions arise.

Huston, we have a problem. This is where we are ATM, now such problems need solutions. Obviously this won't happen over night. So Rogla will still need to win a Tour edition or two, old school. In terms of minimal safety measures taken and high risk of injury involved.

I know he has not win it yet but San sebastien is a great race to snap some bones and miss the rest of the season, no real point to do it when he won't have a good form.
But it is the greatest race there ever was or will be!

for real: I think your are right, and I think he will/should train hard and see if he can make it in time for Vuelta and then he will have to do without warm up races.

If he misses the Vuelta, hopefully that doesn't mean that the severity of his injuries and advancing age have him on a path to Froome-like degeneration. Hate seeing a champ like Roglic miss the chance to go out on top and then struggle to ever get back to GC-winning form.
This was a terribly unlucky year for him but I think age and injury are catching up and he is now on the decline. I'd be surprised if he ever goes in the tour again.

Maybe so, but I don't expect him to be a threat to win.
Who cares about expectations, hope is all we need.

On the Vuelta topic... its hard to have him as clear favourite, this is similar to 2022, when he also had fractured vertebra and was questionable for Vuelta and then won by bonus seconds vs Carapaz.
Carapaz is also one of the favourites for me, maybe more so than Kuss. He has shown he can do it and his form in the Tour was certainly going up towards the end.
