I'm curious about his shape curve this season.
I believe last year he wanted to be very competitive from the get go, do well in as many one week spring stage races he could and then see what would happen at the Tour (possibly a second peak?).

This year his main target is the Giro. Apart from Superman (who had to be close to peak for his home race), all the other Giro contenders are still building up their shape. Dumoulin and Nibali were nothing special yesterday, Bernal didn't look super impressive in Colombia, Yates took it easy for a few stages before winning in Andalusia. Even Valverde hasn't looked as dominant as in previous years.
Roglic on the other hand is already performing at a top level. Does this mean he's a Valverde type of rider, with an incredible base level? What do you guys think?

Certainly looks like it.

Last year he was really good all spring, then in the Tour. Only slightly disappointed deep in the fall in my opinion, but he crashed at the WRR IIRC and he blew up the race in Lombardy before blowing up completely.

Almost got 2nd today, strong finish from Primoz.

The leader in the UAE Tour was happy to extend his overall lead. “It is always better to gain time than to lose time. The boys have worked perfectly for me again today. That is also how we avoided the crash by racing continuously in the front. In the end it was up to me and luckily I could take a few extra seconds on the competition. It was a tough climb. A real wall. It was a fight to the finish.”

Big fan. It might conflict with peaking for the Giro but with the skill set he has shown before and today's efforts in the mix he has to be a podium contender for Flèche Wallone.
Perhaps next year he'll try the classics. Somehow these one-day races don't seem to be working for him right now. I hope that Jumbo-Visma brings their underrated youngster, Jonas Vingegaard, to the Flèche Wallone-show. Very good climber and he's quite fast. Only 22, but he could be a surprise this year.

Lombardia is the only classic I see Roglic doing well in at the moment. Not sure if the Ardennes suit his racing style.

Laurens de Plus going Giro?

If he doesn't I'll be bitterly disappointed. He is on the list for now:

I wonder what the plan is for Sep Kuss and George Bennet. I know Kruijswik is going all in for the tour.
Kuss - Tour of California, Critérium du Dauphiné, Vuelta a España
George Bennett - Paris - Nice, Vuelta Ciclista al Pais Vasco, Tour of California, Tour de France,
Vuelta a España

Insane start of the season. In his first race he has a 3rd, 2nd, two 1st places and the overall victory (with a flat stage left of course). He'll be hard to beat in stage races going forward. Next in line is Tirreno-Adriatico with a course that fits him like a glove, even though nowadays every race fits him when he is in this kind of form. But with a TTT, an ITT and two "muri" stages I can't see too many challengers. Maybe Dumoulin will be his biggest rival.

Bonus seconds.

Edit: Nice, elaborate discussion we're having here :D

Its only 10k though. Ala is pretty good in those. Especially if he would be racing for the win overall or is in the lead.

Roglic would have to be pretty close. If he will be behind... he might have the lead going in to the ITT.

I think Alaphilippe needs more than 20s and I don't see where he gets that. A lot probably depends on the TTT though

20, really? He has won TTs of that length before. I think he has a chance but Roglic will also be in for the bonus seconds so he may very well win. But we can't discount Alaphilippe beforehand (I'm not saying you're doing that).
