You are a very optimistic skijumper Roglič fan I see

I convinced Skijumper Roglic fan is actually Tadej Pogacar himself. So hey there, Tadej.

It should be noted Pogacar was a massive Roglic fan, no different than the rest of us here in many ways. Just check older Roglic Instagram posts from years ago (like his early ones with only a few thousand likes): Pogacar liked loads of them.

Now though he enjoys winning the Tour on easy mode & trolling Roglic fans here.

Tadej and Primoz actually remind me of Wout and Mathieu: they race against each other, but seem to like each other, also...

So it‘s good it‘s cycling, and no boxing. :)

It's funny how the general opinion has changed in a couple of years. Two years ago and even last year, a route that had a lot of uphill finishes didn't suit him, but it did suit his opponents, according to this forum. Now a route with a lot of MTFs apparently suits him very well.

He's matured as a cyclist, he progresses in all phases every year.

They were getting along well until that legendary PDBF TT. I think then Primoz felt as if his younger peer had backstabbed him, it was his turn to win and the future was for Tadej. Since then he's avoided Tadej subject in interviews and once mentioned they had never been friends.

Problem is, now Primoz‘ opponents know he lacks bike handling skills, and has problems riding in a very big, nervous peloton. Now the opponents might try to take Primoz out, to make him crash. Just like Colbrelli made Primoz crash in 2021‘s Tour. They will try to make him crash again, and say „We didn‘t do anything wrong“, just like Colbrelli said afterwards... :-(

As for potentially crashing. I feel that all GC guys have a rather good potential to crash on cobbles. As none of them is a cobble specialist. Don't really know what the organisers where thinking. Introducing such lottery for some cheap thrill.

But in general regarding Roglič and crashes. It's like when people claimed he fades in third week. Until i guess he didn't. All in all i wouldn't count on Roglič crashing all that much. He perfected this to the extent that it doesn't make much difference anyway.

On the plus side at least we will know for sure if PR should do PR in the future.

P.S. Totally worth blowing one Tour on that.

Good luck bodycheking Dennis.
Is he supposed to be a tough guy? Don't think so.

Total casual list for this month's Roubaix was like one guy hurt a shoulder and Mads Pedersen still limping. Maybe cobbles are not so much worse wrt to crashes than other races/courses after all.

I'm gonna do a hot take and say Roubaix is overrated as hell just because you can win it if you're a big boy without explosivity

Never meet an Australian that wasn't. And how much of the (Tour) GC favourites participated in that race?

It's a race for specialists.

My take on it is the lottery will bear fruit. That is some GC guys will get eliminated on stage 5. As for people believing Roglič will be one of them. I wouldn't be all that sure about that. He will likely manage just fine and has a team to back him. The impression i have is like the Tour likes to sabotage itself. Why else would you kill a GC race on stage 5.

PR isn't as specialized as it's made out to be IMO. Colbrelli won it on his first try. Gilbert won it on his 2nd or 3rd. Moscon, who almost won it, is one of the most alround riders around.

I think the only "specialized" aspect is that it's the only big race that can be won by unexplosive chonky boys.

My take on this is Roglič is likely in a slight advantage, regarding the stage 5, compared to main rivals. As who you have in your team will determine the outcome (minus lottery). GC guys alone can do little on this stage.

We'll see.

Has he even hinted that? How was it a backstabbing? Its not like he attacked him when he punctured or anything. He was just better and more deserving.

He might be better on cobbles than most of them, but it's very high variance which is very undesirable as someone who'll probably stomp everyone bar Pogacar in the mountains. And the one guy against whom he'd probably like more variance is also probably a better rider on cobbles.

Not sure if comparing GC riders makes all that much sense. That is trying to determine if one is slightly better at cobbles then other. I see it more as an opportunity. Such as the one Bernal took at Giro on gravel. There Evenepoel wasn't racing against Bernal. As it was not Bernal that made the difference. Bernal did took the hefty check though.

AFAIK Roglič never made such comments. As for discussions on how something is or was perceived. Here people usually have different opinions they tend to discuss.

Well, no one raced PR hard who didn't belong there. So it's sort of a predetermined selection.

But I think a significantly cobbled GT stage will result in at least one contender on their back foot, if not out of the race entirely. Not necessarily bc of injury but because of flats, unexpected splits etc...

On the other hand, narrow finishes and Opi-Omis are also a threat...personally I like to see variety so I'm all for cobbles, sterrato etc in a GT, within reason of course.

Do we know what the expectation is for what Jumbo's Tour team? Assuming Dennis and possibly Dumoulin are to slide in and that (I would guess) Affini takes over the Tony Martin role I struggle to see how they'll squeeze in any cobbled specialists outside of Van Aert without losing a mountain domestique.
