I think there are 2 ways to interpret today's stage:
1. Rogla is not 100% due to his crash and the stage was a very successful damage limitation. In this case, job done.
2. Rogla is indeed the strongest of the GC contenders and decided to keep his powders dry. In this case, I'm kind of lost for words. I mean has the guy not been through enough setbacks to know you have to take time while you can? Because you never know when you're gonna need it and it's far from guaranteed that next time, you have the legs to do it.
I'm leaning towards the second scenario. Of course that would make it primarily DS fault but for crying out loud, just ignore the knuckleheads and put the pedal down. Pog would do it. And by the time they get to the Tre Cime stage (and TT afterwards), the outcome of these stages would be completely irrelevant as Pog would have minutes on everyone. This has Addy Engels written all over it. He is just not ambitious enough and that reflects on Rogla as well...
I still hope it's the second scenario though, because it leaves more chance for Rogla to win this Giro.
