Teams & Riders Everybody needs a little bit of Roglstomp in their lives

"GC Kuss" was at best the 3rd strongest rider in the Vuelta, and I'm a Sepp Kuss fan. No way Kuss wins the Vuelta without the power of social media. If Kuss had been sole leader of Jumbo in the absence of Jonas and Roglic I don't think he wins either. He was allowed to go in that break because he was only third strongest in Jumbo. If Sepp goes off to be GC leader of another team I think he joins a bunch of others destined to finish somewhere between 3rd and tenth in every GT he contests.
Telling it like it is!

The return of the ugly helmet

Laces are more aero.

Best to wait and see. Kuss likely considered too good now indeed. For only focusing on the support role. And considering he is free to leave at the end of 2024 season. Martínez, hard to say. When he was at his best, as a support rider, that was marvellous. Still who knows on how he will play it at Bora. Proven potential for sure is there. We'll see.
Kuss just extended his JV contract. So, no on waiting.

I think Kuss only has realistic chances on very specific GT routes. Few TT kilometres, many MTFs and - more importantly - very little competitive flattish classics-like racing. And no echelons.

If we’re dealing with a hard ridden GT, with all the teams going for it like in TDF, I think he will lose a lot of energy trying to keep up.

That pretty much means Vuelta for him if things stay like they are…

I don't know to be honest. If they even could blatantly push Sepp back now. Once in an advantage. Sepp wouldn't settle with that any more.

So at best they can race as rivals. If such situation to occur.
A situation like that will not occur. Several reasons:
1. The peloton won’t let it happen. Now that they know he can deliver under the right circumstances, they will pull…
2. Vingegaard won’t let it happen. Now that he knows Kuss can deliver, he will catch…
3. I doubt Visma will risk pissing off Vingegaard by employing a tactic that could be preferential for Kuss against Vingegaard. I think they learnt their lesson this year…

Something clicked on Angliru. With the help of free Landa. There is no going back now. Sepp wants to win GTs and won't settle for less. So as long as in contention he will in my opinion look after himself.
He just signed an extension with VismaLAB. So unless vingo becomes incapacitated, his only shot will be the Giro 2025.

However, there are quite a few one week stage races on the calendar he can try. Maybe tour de suisse?

4. unless Vingo is riding on july juice, he will take huge time out of Kuss in the ITT format.

Sepp will be protected a bit like a leader in the Tour just like adam yates was this year. He can do top 10, win some stage and work for vingegaard.

He also will be protected because if ayuso/yates, or hindley attack, kuss will respond, not vingegaard.

1. It can easily happen.
2. Doubt it. Jonas to be the one chasing Sepp. If Sepp would be used as bait.
3. We'll see. They did it at Vuelta 2023.

So i guess best to just let Sepp ride off, give him a minute or two advantage, at the Tour 2024.

Sepp more or less has to look after himself or Visma will push him behind Cian in a season or two. So in my opinion it should be interesting to see the dynamics in between Jonas and Sepp (Tour/Vuelta 2024) to unfold. But now lets go back to Rogla.

Where is the jersey?

That‘s what I’m talking about - Sepp will never again be used as a bait IMO. All Jonas needs to do is say he’s feeling great at the bottom of the climbs and that will be the end of it… And after 2023 experience, Jonas will make sure he makes it clear he’s feeling great on every last one of the climbs.

Well, Rogla can always make us of a good lead out.

Vingegaard's advantage over Sepp in the TT is so crushing its not funny. It won't matter if Vingo isn't feeling good at the bottom of climbs.

There are 59km of TT next year. Sepp might lose 3 minutes on those two stages alone. The dynamics will be fine. Sepp knows his place.

ps - sorry for propagating discussion of Sepp Kuss in the Roglic thread ;)

Don’t worry - it’s always nice to have post count boost for free😉

Hey guys, what do you think about Remco - does he have a chance in next year’s TDF?🤣
