There are riders that do better at training than in actual races. I think the team also expects him to show it in a race, not just enthousiasts and media.

He won VoC and was in the pink jersey before being taken out by desperate riders among others. However, the team in general has been below the level of a team like Cofidis and I would be quite curious to see the team's points tally without Rog and Lipo. So, if anybody performed below expectations it is the team not Rog.

That’s true, and I’m not saying he isn’t good enough anymore. But he’s also not the sole leader.

As a Roglic fan, I would love this, but as I said about Roglic donkeying for Lipowitz, this is not going to happen. Remco is a champion; champions don't ride a GT in support of someone else. There are better uses of their time.

He would be smashed on Kwaremont.
It's better for him to focus on doing TA and MSR before the Giro. I think he shouldn't race Ardennes if he wants to win the Giro.

I think he would be great at doing a big long solo from a stupid distance a la Gilbert 2017. that's how he rode at the beginning of his career before he tried to become a GC rider.

Yeah, that’s the thing, Pogacar and MVDP are just as comfortable going from looong distance, so there’s no reason they wouldn’t follow.

He didn't try to become a GC rider he BECAME one. 17 wins in the most prestigious 1 week races, 5 GT wins and a second at the Tour. That's a damn Good GC rider in my book.

Once you do a ride that involves a great effort and a certain amount of pack indifference it doesn't happen again.
Many of those long solos didn't tactically start with that in mind; most racers would like some company to add a rational expectation for that move.

A couple of iconic moments at the Tour 2025 for Rogla for sure, finishing it being a nice cherry on the top. In terms of results in GTs and so far this season not all that fruitful, luckily the signs of much bigger potential still being there, results like winning the Giro and podium at the Tour still well in reach. In terms of the team i feel that leadership will get decided on the road, with legs, especially seeing the approach taken at Tour 2025, potential joining of Remco for the 2026 season IMHO wont change that, although with new DS there could be some bias towards pushing Remco ahead. We'll see.
