Felix Gall is the new Austrian Emperor of the Alps

The peloton's new ultra-mythical climber had his major breakthrough in Tour de Suisse where he landed his first professional victory after a great raid in the mountains. First on the top of Soudet, he is now the second Austrian rider in polka-dots after Bernhard Kohl.

O course he' better than Bernie, he was born in the mountains and is no freaking flatlander. :D

Still only the 2nd biggest engine around Lienz, but a fun rider. Seemed dissapointed about loosing the jersey today, but wants to regain in. Stronger than O'Connor today.
His favourite training climb is the Iselsbergpass around Lienz. His descending still needs some work (blame his triathlon background) but he's pretty much the only guy who clearly improved after leaving DSM.

I still don't get how a climber won the Richmond Junior WCRR. I take it the three in front was a tactical move, but he still won the sprint.

The thing that surprises me most is how well he keeps going in the late 2nd and now early 3rd week. I really expected him to fade towards the end as he initially aimed to peak for the Giro. Now it's actually looking pretty likely that he will get into the top 10.

Me and my buddy has hyped this kid the entire Tour, mainly because of the fact that he's Austrain and we therefore believe him to be the next Bernhard Kohl. For good and for worse, lol. He's a big stan for these oldschool German teams like Gerolsteiner and Telekom, so needless to say he gets all the love he can get.

I have placed a huge bet for him tomorrow, mainly just for fun, so Bernhard Gall, Felix Kohl, whatever, do us proud!

AG2R must’ve measured him up for a TT bike since Suisse! Very impressive performance from him all things considered, and you’d think that there’s plenty of room for improvement too.

I came here to post something like this, i.e. somewhat overlooked yesterday in all the madness going on, Felix Gall did a super performance all things considered.

But here's the hilarious part: Gall was 3:40 down on Vingegaard yesterday, i.e. which was good enough for 13th place over 22.4km's. Whilst in the Tour de Suisse stage 8 ITT over 25.7km's (a hilly ITT, although not 'as hilly' as yesterday's), Gall was 3:26 behind the winner (Ayuso)... which was good enough for a 91st place finish (& everyone laughed at his performance).

So the gaps yesterday were just... otherworldly.

He is an exciting rider for sure!

I hope he goes in the break away today and take the polka dots. Not sure though if neither UAE nor Jumbo will control.

The gaps between most riders were actually really similar to the TdS TT. The top ten in Switzerland were 46 seconds apart, yesterday the 10 next best riders starting from Van Aert were 45 seconds apart. It's just that there were two aliens up in front.

If we removed Pog from the ITT, the winner would have been 4 km/h faster than the closest rival (which would have been WvA).

After sleeping on it a bit, I'm even more shocked to the point of being a little bit dazed. In this context, Gall did a great performance (Gaudu was also good as well tbh).

FELIX MOFO *** GALL

im becoming a big fan of this guy. i enjoyed his win at tour de suisse and that was another beautiful win today. i like the way he rides, not afraid to go solo on the climbs for a long distance. i was worried about his descending skills on that last downhill since he's looked shaky, i actually expected Yates to catch him, but he did a great job.
Yeah, those triathlon level descending skills (he was a triathlete before fully focussing on cycling) still had me a bit worried.
