Yeah, those triathlon level descending skills (he was a triathlete before fully focussing on cycling) still had me a bit worried.
I kinda feel like this was one of those cases where "fresher rider wins descent" was just very likely

Also, Giro Queenstage near Lienz to lure in Gall when?
no idea if it's going to be the queen stage, but it was just announced today that Austria plans to host two stages of the Giro in 2025 - one finishing in Lienz, the other (after climbing the Großglockner) in Salzburg

The Glockner stage is supposed to finish in Salzburg? Did they invite Pescheux to help organise this bid?

Kill it with fire!
Serious, somewhere in the Bundesland Salzburg would be fine, but over the Glockner and in Salzburg proper, wtf?

Worse. The summit would be well over 100k from the line.
Yeah, hard to somewhat safe this one. Maybe a Gaisbergspitze MTF above Salzburg.
Just start in Lienz, go westwards, then do the whole Höhenstraße on the way back to Lienz, Iselsbergpass + Glockner and stage finish in Zell am See (with a Zettersfeld MTF the day before) and you have something great.

Seriously, do some of you guys who seem to know about the local areas (or just areas/geography/climbs) in general ever considered contacting these organizers? Because really, it should be in their best interest to make some good stages. Or so you would think!

I have already contacted the Kaunertal about making a potential Giro MTF on the Kaunertaler Gletscherstraße (up to over 2,700m of altitude) since they keep that road open all year round anyway because it goes up to the Glacier ski station. They were polite and thanked me, but nothing else...

That was a performances for the ages. Second ascent time on Col de la Loze despite being in the break, dropping Yates, Bilbao, Gaudu...
Also how long is his peak lasting? He was supposed to be already good in TotA. Now he wins the Tour queen stage almost three months later.
He's podium material at the Giro, I'm pretty sure of that.

Another rider who wasted years at DSM (and apparently wanted to quit cycling)

Gall Gang!

Yeah, someone who is almost a local guy and who you sometimes even see on your own rides winning the Tour's queenstage is huge.

Roglic, Thomas and Almeida better send AG2R's team manager a few nice bottles of wine as a thank you for keeping Gall away from the Giro.

I made a comment at the time joking about Roglic and Evenepoel breathing a sigh of relief because Gall wasn't starting. But with this Tour in mind that doesn't sound so much like a joke anymore.

I mean, Gall would have probably lost about 4 minutes in the first week of the Giro in the TTs, so…

Now all that is left is the polka-dots. Saturday will be lit!
should hopefully be a good battle for it. Ciccone looks strong on the early climbs, but Gall should have the upper hand on the big ones close to the finish.

What's the best way to approach it, though? In his current GC position, he'll probably won't get too much room to join the break.

He has to though to have a chance. Vingegaard is only 1 point behind him and he won't outclimb Vingegaard on the final mountain.

Riding for a French team, in the Tour de France, Felix Gall has finaly met expectations.

I'll try to update the OP in a few days, as i'm on my phone until saturday. But i think this guy deserves his own thread, after winning the queen stage in the Tour and after his Tour de Suisse.

He has surprised me in his consistency so far, but especially his TT, which was actually good.

Fanboy #1 @Mayomaniac feel free to add to the topic, i can always expand the OP.
