No, just immature *** with a sense of entitlement and an insufferable I'm-better-than-you and look-how-funny-I-am attitude. He's like one of those hyperactive kids at school who are the best at sports and are popular because of it, so spend the whole time in gym class showing off for attention, and do stupid and annoying things to get attention in the classes they aren't as good at.

At least his antics mean that he isn't really boring, just annoying, but that's about all I can say that's halfway positive about Peter Sagan the public persona.

We get it already, you hate Sagan. You can stop whining about it and calling him names/insulting him any time. It's even more annoying coming from you then it was coming from highcadence.

Sagan's just cocky and likes to have fun on the bike. IMO a little cockiness is good in a rider. And I also like it when a rider knows how to have some fun while riding and racing like Sagan does. I'd actually like to see more riders imitate those traits.

A little cockiness is one thing, what Sagan shows is another. If he just dialled it down a touch he'd be amazing for the sport.

Don't worry, there are some up and coming kids who will be giving him a run for his money soon.

You know **** about him, his personality, his childhood - he did not have, chasing all those races on 20 years old van.

I am sorry for your childhood and the things that happened to you in school but please grow up.

He is just a kid and things that are happening to him right now (big money, enormous popularity, attention of all those beautiful girls, driving car with Alonso) must be really difficult for him to handle. The fact is he is handling it much better that any of us could handle.

I wish you can read in Slovak and see how excited he was with this Alonso drive. Never mind. Haters gonna always hate.

If you guys don't want LS to elaborate on why he dislikes Sagan, don't ask? Or are only positive opinions allowed here?

There's perfectly valid reasons to dislike Sagan as a person from the things he's shown in public.

I understand his strength and incredible bike riding power and skills. But I can't stand his self-serving "look at me, I'm so cool and casual!" antics and hope somebody can cut him down to size, and if I never see him win another race again in his career it'll be too soon. That smug grin needs wiping off his face.

A few months of struggling to achieve at the level he expected worked wonders for Cavendish's likability, maybe the same would do Sagan some good.

Sagan has done bunch of local group rides and always been friendly with everyone. I got to talk to him and his personal assistant/masseur for about 30min this May during the Tour of Cali and he was very humble and friendly. He is still young and sometimes acting a bit immaturely but otherwise great guy and great asset for the sport of cycling.

I do want LS to elaborate his opinion, and I don't mind the response at all. So LS don't like Sagan. I disagree with LS. Fair enough.

For my part, I've got no problem if someone doesn't like Sagan. I just find posts like these...

Sure, guy's a phenom, but he's about as appealing as syphilis.

I hope that's all it is. I would be a lot less keen to get behind the Alonso project if that *** was to lead it.

I like Alonso. Sagan is cycling's #1 Backpfeifengesicht.

...annoying. As they don't really add anything to whatever discussion is taking place. And seem to be just taking the opportunity to insult the rider the poster doesn't like.

Two of those posts are the "asked to elaborate" part. As for adding to the discussion, what does "Sagan is awesome" add, exactly? And yet, no one has any problem with that kind of post.

Did LS insult Sagan? Definitely. And for good reason, whether or not I agree with that reason.

I don't get the Sagan hate. The guy's a great bike racer and he's entertaining. WTF do people want? Mother Theresa on a bicycle?
Agreed.
nowadays we see these Pro-cyclists lacking real characters with real personalities. Of course there are the "Sponsor Obligations" forcing them to be insipid so their real personalities would never "misrepresent" them, but that's what the world is missing. Sagan might have a flamboyant personality- he's young & perhaps immature- but by no means he should be prevented from expressing himself...

I agree that we need more "personalities" in cycling. But pinching podium girls is not an acceptable way of expressing yourself. IN his personal circle, maybe. But not in the real world.

You (generic) might say that was nothing, but a lot of people took offense and it is going to take him a long time to recover from it, from the public's viewpoint.

His antics on the bike are to me not unacceptable, even if I am not fond of them, and there is certainly no doubting his talent.

Well, of course. Because that is a positive comment instead of a negative one. That said, I pretty much agree with everything you've posted here.

In negative posts versus positive posts about a rider, while a major reason is people don't like seeing their favorite riders insulted. I think another part of the reason is that lots of negative posts about a rider creates a negative tone or feel in the thread.

The but t pinch is one instance where Sagan can and probably should as 42x16ss said dial it down a little. But the majority of his antics (wheelies, tricks, funny things like the green beard, victory salutes) I would say are all in good fun and not that insulting.

I agreed, those are fine. But there are other things, that have received little to no publicity, such as a rather vile t-shirt he was photographed in, which indicate that he still has a lot of growing up to do, and whether he likes it or not, to live with the societal norms.

C´mon, those cocky t-shirt pictures were made after his first WT victories at Paris - Nice 2010. About 50 WT victories ago :)

Is society gonna dictate what he ought to wear or not yes? Sad world.

No one is dictating what he can wear. He can wear whatever he wants, but you've got to understand when you wear clothing with text and/or images that people may judge you based on those images or text.
