Let's just say I will be supporting anybody against Portugal and the Fagtron 3000 (Cristiano Ronaldo). As shown by this:

I will also be cheering against France, not because of the Henry hand-ball, but because their coach Raymond Domenech is such a ****-wit. But I can't see Argentina winning it, because Maradona has some random selection policies. Picking a 36 and a half year old centre back over Walter Samuel? Epic fail.

I like USA's Chances to get through the first two rounds.

Yeah I watched the drawing... I love soccer. :D

RVP needs to get fit already. Would be nice to see him make it back in time for the wc.
To me RVP is a match winning player, doesn't have to do much all agme, but can still win the game from nothing. Along with robben and sniejder you would think goals would come from somewhere.

His return is being targeted for mid-April, and last I heard he was still on terget for that. It'll be touch and go to see how good he is of course, but if he manages to regain the form he had for Arsenal early this season he'll be our best player, although Robben has also shown good form and remarkable consistency for Bayern and has stayed (largely) uninjured.

That said, our defence is sh!t and our goalkeeper is useless (please come back Edwin!!!!!!!). We'll be lucky to get past the 1/4ers.

ye when mathijsen is probably your best defender your in trouble, that being said the attack is magic, and if they play at their best then teams will struggle. But of course we'll play great football then choke in the quarters or something.

ALso i don't think RVP is as good as Robben and sniejder in thier best form.

Having watched Sneijder tear Chelsea apart in the second half yesterday, I'm not sure RvP is our best player.

About our defence: it's a neverending story. They always look decidedly dodgy, but I think the replacement of Ooijer with Heitinga is a good one, IMHO. Ooijer is sloooow, and we could really use some offensive creativity in our centre backs.

Maybe Emanuelson for Van Bronckhorst is an option. Neither of them can defend, but Emanuelson is becoming hard to ignore, I think.

Van Persie's injury was a gift. Players who played (well) throughout the season usually have lost the edge come WC. So Persie should have some left in him. Arsenal prolly won't win anything again so that might help also.
Sneijder has proved to be one of the best in the world right now, let's just hope Bommel en de Jong are willing to clean up after him.

Marwijk is looking at Roel Brouwers for the defence at the moment. Anything is better than Ooijert. Read an article last year about the 'Dutch name factor' (Klaas-Jan, Joris, Dirk, Arjen...) Roel would fit in nicely.

Yeah, like Brouwers will do the trick... who had ever heard of him? If the search for capable defenders takes Van Marwijk to the bottom half of the Bundesliga, why not just pick Ron Vlaar and be done with it. You don't get names more Dutch than that.

Bottom half Bundesliga > everything below place 3 in Holland.

De jong slotting in a defensive midfield role for us will do wonders imo, a very good player.

We have no tradition in cycling, but I think we will take the title again in Fifa Word Cup 2010.

we might not be doing too great in cycling, but the dutch players are giving me some hope for june (I'd much rather us win a world cup, then one of our riders win say... the tour... anyway). Robben and Sneijder are in some top form. RvP is back, Van Der Vaart is still getting 1st team football at madrid, and playing pretty good. Even huntelaar has been starting of late. Things are looking up :D

On a Dutch cycling forum where the people are normally pretty anti-football someone did a poll: Holland World Champs or Gesink Tour win in 2010?
Almost everybody chose the football Worlds.
The party that would follow would be awesome. Party like its 1945! :D

... probably because no one in his right mind believes that Gesink can win the Tour this year.

Already looking forward to the Champions League final, most likely between two teams of which the best player is a Dutchie recently sold by Real Madrid.

even so a world cup trumps a tour win for me. Heck I'd rather a world cup then 5 straight tour wins

Really hope inter and bayern hold on to make the final.
Bayern could have won 5 nil.
