man this chile team is one of the most fascinating things i ever seen. it's like 10 emanuele sellas 2008 running on the pitch. luv them.
check the distance they cover and how they sprint relentessly. the pressing over spain sometimes even 3-4 players on one spanish player is absolutely amazing _O_

i really hope they can win the world cup. things that stop them:
-some team having two goals advantage on them. i think they might crack mentally in this case
-one of the players losing his mind and getting a red card
-losing their pepe marti :p

A kiss good bye Spain!!!

LOL. I am enjoying this. Sorry, but I just didn't like Spain.

Is South American (excluding Brazil) teams playing Spain also adding pressure because of the historical links?

In case of The Netherlands, we just use all players from Surinam ourselves :D

Does anyone like Spain?

This seems to be the most universally joyous result of the tournament so far. Now I need to be careful not to think of the millions of Spanish unemployed losing their 1 ray of hope.

That Chile goal is perhaps goal of the tournament imo.

All of the last 3 passes and the goal had about 80% chance of getting intercepted. THe first one goes through the legs of both Spain players, the second one goes into a 1cm space between 3 defenders, the third is great control and misses the defender by a milimeter, then the goal everyone would have shot, yet he pauses it finds a small gap. pow.

Yet I don't think they run a lot more than other teams overall, they tend to keep close together, keeping the pitch small. They need a lot of athleticism for the small bursts of acceleration all the time, that much is true.

The pass from Alexis Sanchez was touched by a Spain defender actually, it would've gone to Vidal immediately without that, giving the latter even more chance to score.

If the tournament really is rigged, Spain will get penalties. No way Fifa would want Spain vs Australia to be a dead rubber.

I don't really like the hate on success either, although part of it is also the hate on the easy dives and the theatrical reactions after fouls from the opponents.

I just think its great to see other teams not trying to go for a joyless 0-0 versus the best team(s) but going all out and succeeding against the odds. That helds for Chile more than for anyone, but also for Mexico versus Brazil (despite drawing) and for The Netherlands in the first game. The teams that are perceived to be outsiders at best are playing very positive games which is great for the enjoyment and makes it easy to root for the underdog.

I think if this is happening at all they will realize that Spain has no chance anymore and they will focus on getting Brazil to the second round.
