Jones was a beast in defense. Without him it would've been very hard.

I really don't understand two things:

1. Why on earth play Beasley? He just isn't good enough on that leve, without Jermaine's protection he'd been completely lost. They have Chandler in the Squad who is a good right back. Jonson to play on the left. That would've been much better.

2. Why on earth not play Boateng? He's by far the best passer of the ball in Ghana's team plus he is a warrior and always tries to do something decisive. The only one who played good vertical passes in the entire game.

Boye had a nightmare. At fault for two goals. I say their manager will be getting heavy criticism for not starting Boateng.

Johnson played well and Jones worked hard which I was surprised to see him starting on the left as I never seen him play there when he was at Schalke and Blackburn. I think there's more to come from Bedoya and Bradley, although Bedoya started brightly, both of them are better than what they showed tonight.

The second half turned out to be decent in the end. Great win.

Back in the days, at Frankfurt, when Jones was still a forward, he did play at the wings at times.

What I don't understand with Mueller is he is rolling around on the floor, then when Pepe comes near him he is on his feet at superspeed. SHould have been booked for play acting as well as Pepe being sent off.

He is of good German stock what else can you expect?

Yesterday's match was projected on giant TV's outside in cities across the country with huge crowds. While this was done in WC's past, the crowds yesterday were definitely bigger, even more spirited. There are also numerous other viewing parties for all countries and matches all over the place. Today's Brasil-Mexico match is likely to draw large viewing parties here as well.
