IMHO he was and did a good job.
He's a tactical disaster and he's on the worst team to learn.

In every race, they've had a numerical advantage and haven't been able to capitalize on it, not even to win a stage.

I get the criticism of what he did in the last 5k but before that he played it pretty well in my opinion. When he attacked on Izua, Izagirre was still in the group so he should attack there. Then he didn‘t work with Seixas because Roglič was behind (if he was strong enough he could have attacked Seixas here but unlikely he could Drop him). After the descent he started working with Seixas because he should secure his podium and Roglič wasn‘t going to come back easily (Roglič indeed couldn‘t hold off Izagirre so this was right). Then he of course goes 500 Meters too early at the finish, but it‘s not like he rode completely mental today.

Unwritten rule is if you abandon your leader you at least have to win. So all in all this was not OK today.
Unwritten rule also says if you are clearly the 2nd best in your team... you are not the leader.
I like what I am seeing from Lipo here. The leadership allocating game is for paper pushers and a bit of social media banter, just grab the leadership role.
Lipowitz strengths seem to be his recovery abilities and keeping a very high level also for several weeks.
Yes but the question is whether his level is GC winning level or more Uran / Mas level. Biggest risk is that he can’t win GTs but he lacks the attributes to win stages or compete in classics.

He really needs to work on his acceleration, if he gets that in order he has a chance on winning 1-week stage races. GT's are also a possibility but then he just needs to be the better rider. Vingegaard/Pogacar are still better, but I can see him win any GT with none of them there.

What sort of rule is that? If the two top riders are 10 seconds apart, there’s no clear division of roles. That would be completely stupid from the team’s point of view. And Movistar acted exactly like that today. Let the stronger rider go. That gives the team the best chance of success. And that’s why the team acted that way. Lipowitz is quite clearly the second-strongest rider in the race behind Seixas. RBH would rather have a win than two riders on the podium. That’s perfectly normal. So that’s what they try to do. It’s admirable how courageously Lipo always rides. Certainly not always perfect from a tactical point of view, but courageous. It’s a shame he lacks the ability to attack with a real burst of speed. That makes it difficult to win, unfortunately. He’s always right up there in stage races. That’s a huge strength. He hasn’t really shown any weaknesses there so far. But unfortunately, he needs the really long climbs to shake off his rivals, as he can’t create gaps.
Don't what you are trying to say... but to all of those saying he should have just waited for Rogla... I think in such a scenario a group sprint would have been the most likely scenario... with both RB riders also not winning... nevertheless I think he could have saved a lot more in the last 10k ... but guess he would not have won either

Delusional Roglic fans living in another universe than ours fs.
Lipowitz is my favorite for 3rd in TdF. He's just extremely reliable and is the perfect 3 week stage racer, but he just lacks explosivity and the real top-top end talent to really contest a race like TdF. And that aint gonna change anytime soon

Yeah, I'm fine with Lipo just going for it, he's clearly the strongest right now. But what the hell dude. How is Roglic ever grumpy? I mean nice there's a big German talent again after such a time, but you're getting carried away a bit methinks.
