Digger... Just because a cyclist chooses to sit down with Paul Kimmage, it doesn't mean he'll be 100% truthful.

Do I believe that there is truth within the story? Sure, I do. Actually, I feel that there is perhaps 99% truthfulness in the text. But it boils down to one crucial point. And I think Floyd was quite aware of this before the sit-down took place.

I think the sit-down with Kimmage was a well-calculated move on Floyd's part. And I think he proceeded to spill the beans on pro cycling (good!) and tell it like it is (he has nothing to lose within cycling anymore anyway). And then, somewhere in the midst of those 7 hours of questions, Floyd was able to hold onto the one massive lie of a football he so badly needed to hold onto. The issue of the testosterone in July of 2006. The one lie that matters to the FFF and possible counts of fraud.

And to you, I say "You've been conned" (as most people were). You were fed one big strategic lie, hugely cushioned by 7 hours of mostly truth. You were given such an unprecedented, massive infusion of candor and information, you gladly swallowed the portion of the sugary glob that contained the one big "key" lie. And it was the lie that Floyd needed you (and everyone else) to truly believe. Because that one, single issue is going to be the difference between a "destroyed man" and a merely "destroyed man with felony convictions".

In the advertising world (I work in advertising), Kimmage (in this case) would be what we call a "perfect presenter" (IE, you want to sell hair-removal products, you get a hairy guy). Kimmage is the crown-jewel of doping credibility. If you can get Kimmage to believe you, then you effectively carry the Excalibur sword.

Yes, seven hours of dazzling, almost diabetic levels of truth, followed by one well-needed moment of lying. And it is this one lie that counts.

Easy BotanyBay you are making way to much sense for this discussion.

I am really surprised that today the clinic is not being asked for links and source’s that “Floyd is a current liar”. That took about 3 days to work its way out.

One thing to note --- this thread is about to enter into the “poor” argument again.

He had me at "diabetic levels of truth" !

I won't ask for a link on that one!

Hang on. I detect aggression. You clearly stated that you worked in advertising and that for “hair removal products” the industry will always use “a hairy guy” – you sounded so confident in your assertion.

You’re now back tracking on that statement?

Just so I get this clear in my mind. You want me to believe you that Floyd is selectively lying but you’re lying to this forum to prove a point? Is this what you want me to believe?

I asked for you to show me at least 3 advertisements for hair removal products using a hairy guy. Just like you stated. Can you do this for the forum?

Then you proceeded to denigrate me with offensive pictures and mocking the Church at the same time because I caught you out.

Now now play fair!

I think you owe us all an apology for lying to the forum and pretending you work in advertising and lying to over emphasis a point.

If there’s anyone lying here I think it might be you. Judging by your reaction to me finding you out it looks like I’ve hit a winner.

Works in advertising ineed! Deary me.

I was right and wrong about the "floyd is poor" sources / links etc.

Seems like the flavor for the thread today is 3 links for "Hairy guys".

I think you owe us an apology for "Tuesdays". They will never be the same for me ever again after you played us all for fools here at the clinic. :(

Sure. We’ve got Mark claiming “huge chunks” of the peloton wear yellow bands and BB making the infamous hairy guys claim. Heck even Eddy the Great and Phil Liggett have been looked in the eye and they proclaim there was never any doping.

As for Tuesday; it became the running gag on the forum. We all played along it and it was entertainment.

To pretend it was otherwise says more about you than me.

That would be great, I agree.

Floyd can't get a job? Isn't McDonald's hiring?

Great, you finally agree!!
This is progress - yes the qui tam case will be great. So there is little point in discussing Floyd and paying back people until that comes through - how long does google tell you before these cases get resolved?

We might as well discuss Lance paying us back now, as he has the funds to do so immediately.

Floyd might be flush right now. Looks like he sold the Idyllwild cabin on March 1 of this year ($135,000) (Zillow). Sold for a lot less than 2011 TAV (-$65K). Listing removed after only ten days. Looks like Floyd wanted a quick sale.

I did make up my own mind. But Digger also wanted me to take Kimmage's supposed faith in Floyd to heart. I didn't. Remember? "Kimmage believes" etc?

As far as advertising, I suppose I need to re-state my involvement. I am previously (until recently) "from that industry", but do not currently practice from within. I'm now one of "those that can't" (solve the puzzle). But I do work in a very related capacity now.

I have previously walked away from jobs, situations and opportunities that required me to either lie or help push product that I found morally objectionable, so I HAVE demonstrated personal integrity within the field. BTW, MadMen is a rather accurate portrayal. Right ideas, wrong decade.

The above "truly" nails the spirit of the industry.

I will also admit that (looking back), I probably did some work that encouraged you overspending Americans to get a bit "overagressive" with your spending and borrowing habits. Just because you can swing a $450 month payment for "something" doesn't mean you can really afford a Mercedes Benz. Sorry if you feel I'm solely responsible for your taking the toke.

I'm glad that I'm pretty much out of it now. Now onto my FT job of Bashing Floyd and loving Lance (in your binary world).

Cheers. Thanks for the update. But best save the outpouring for your therapist. They will be able to advice on the help you need. I'm by no means qualified - sorry.

On a cursory view what I do find strange is that you willing to aggressively deride me for simply asking to qualify your statements. Photos of people giving offensive hand singles?

I've also noted that you come on here proceed to make fun of someone's divorce, their financial situation all at the same time by telling us you have personal integrity? Seriously? Because that's not the impression I have of you. That's not what you portray. You also say you walked away from jobs that are morally objectionable - but seem fine in making fun of a painful divorce between two people you don't know? along with publishing comedy photos and labelling it their living residence. I'm sorry but your nice guy act is not convincing. In my mind your a cruel person. Very cruel. That's ok. World is full I cruel people but don't pretend your something your clearly not because it doesn't take people long to work you out.

Now who am I to believe? You or Floyd?

I do wonder.

The Lance Armstrong investigation brought me to this forum and now it is over.

My time here has enabled me to learn a lot about a very small subculture of people who gather to spend a lot of their time and energy discussing all the negative aspects of Lance Armstrong. I've spent a lot of time (way too much) with you all. Thank you all very much for sharing with me.

I'm going to try to put Lance Armstrong way in the back of some mental closet, forever I hope. Any publicity is good for him, and I don't think I want to contribute any more.

For those of you that remain, I sincerely hope that something useful comes out of your time spent participating here.

Goodbye!
Mark

Hey Mark just to let you know that Fannie Mae repossessed that cabin you mention, the one above your goodbye note, a note you wrote a couple of months ago. They ended up selling it at a loss. So I was just wondering what kind of accounting you use to determine if a person is 'flush with cash'?

Kimmage is such a God of truth-sniffing that he can't be fooled?

Kimmage can testify at the sentencing hearing.

You probably still think that politics boils down to better ideals and "values" winning over your evil opposers. Now go buy your Apple stock. It's all the rage!

Well considering I've followed cycling for 25 years, and I believe in practically no one, no I don't think I am naive or idealistic.

I'll say one thing about Kimmage, not alone does he believe Landis, but actually likes him a great deal as a person. He has met him a number of times and not just that day. But again, let's not take the word of numerous people who have met Landis, who all say he's a good guy. No, let's take your word.

And by the way, Dr. is right. It's as clear as day you have not read that transcript.....because you got your facts wrong on it about three times yesterday.

I've never made fun of Floyd's divorce itself (per-se). But my belief that Floyd's adherence to his life of lies is probably what CAUSED his divorce.
Floyd stood for five YEARS and told the same stack of lies over and over again. THAT is what I call cruel.

I guess you'll also have to call me cruel for making fun of Wunderboy's penchant for drugs, hookers, etc.

Too bad that I don't see you weeping for Amber and Ryan, as his lies have turned them both into collateral damage. Amber didn't deserve to have to ride that wild roller-coaster ride of poverty-to-wealth-to-poverty insanity and drag her daughter along with it. Her daughter didn't deserve to get bounced around like that. And it all could have been prevented with some strategic use of the truth.

I'll admit, I've been a bit heavy-handed in regards to Floyd. But I don't think he has adequately redeemed himself yet. He still doesn't get how much damage he has done. And you're to quick to accept what he says as fact.

Do you have any respect whatsoever...you can't keep someone's daughter out of this? You feel adding their name adds to your argument?

Good people often do bad things. And before we can all get back to calling them GOOD again, we might need to account for certain things. So let's talk about testosterone use at Le TDF. Even Floyd has admitted how wonderfully helpful a little gel pack under your sack can be when you need it.

I'm often criticized for holding JV to too high of a standard, you know, because he's "such a nice guy". I see a type of parallel situation here.

Landis didn't seem to mind dragging those very same names through the mud with him in "Positively False". So now I'm the "vile" one? Selective forgiveness you preach.

Ah, thanks. Guess he's not flush. Looks more like he is poor, doesn't it? Guess there is no way Floyd is going to be able to hire lawyers to mount his own defense. Looking more and more like a guilty plea if he is indicted, doesn't it?

Thanks for reconfirming that Floyd is most likely poor right now.

Well, Hog and Digger both are both now making arguments that undermine the "Floyd is not poor" myth. I think we can call that myth
BUSTED.

I never said he was poor. I never said he was flush.
You are the one making these assumptions. I questioned you making these assumptions often on half truths, if you were doing well. In a number of days Mark you have gone from Floyd is poor, to Floyd is flush, to Floyd is poor again. What kind of accounting do they do in the States?

He's not mental. You are personally attacking anybody who is disagreeing with you. The facts really are not on your side (except the ones you've made up along the way) and your only tool to defend Floyd is to personally attack those who want to see Floyd held accountable.
