Howdy folks,

We have now completed the migration process to the latest version of Xenforo and moved hosting. While there is expected to be minimal impact, upgrading to the latest version of XenForo may cause potential issues that weren't apparent in testing. Please feel free to let us know if you encounter anything game changing in this thread.

Below are a few known changes that aren't bugs:

  • As part of the update profile images (or Cover images as they were referred to) have been removed as the add-on that enabled this is now out of date and the feature is core to the latest version of XenForo so feel free to add them again.
  • The newest version of XenForo handles previewing posts in a much more minimalist way. It's quick and simple but also not 100% clear especially when you're used to the old way. We don't know if this is something we can adjust, but be aware that while it may seem like nothing is happening it is showing you what the post will look like.
  • Quick Thread was causing some issues with the latest update so that has been removed.
  • In terms of site responsiveness it's difficult to gauge right after maintenance, we'll be keeping an eye on things to make sure any slow speeds are temporary.

It's a shame about thumbnails for threads though, it seems they're gone. It was quite useful to have a proper thumbnail for each race (race logo), much easier to find, now it defaults to the icon of the user who created it.

You write that it's now possible to do that by default, but I'm not finding that option anywhere?

Not sure what you mean, thumbnail previews of threads are now built in. It does it automatically. Just put an image at the top of your post and that will default to the thumbnail preview.

As for your profile banner image, you can adjust that here - https://forum.cyclingnews.com/account/banner

The little picture just next to the thread title.
For example, using the LBL thread, instead of the picture being Lequack's avatar, it would be the LBL logo.

Yes, that's what i meant. The very little thumbnail that you could set and it was visible when viewing threads list. You could set it when creating a thread, I found it pretty useful. But alas, if the add-on is outdated there isn't much to be done, unless there is a possibility of another add-on, I doubt it's a core feature.

When reading XenForo forums the people say this is the add-on that should do the job:

According to the description they removed the "cover" feature which is now reduntant, and only kept the avatar/thumbnail feature.

Maybe search indexing takes a while, or maybe need to re-index. At least that's how it usually is with these things.

Yeah, some databases are still building. Viewing people's posts from their profile page might be off too and show no posts even if they have many until it updates.
