provided that he's not only on sighseeing tomorrow there, how much do you think would actually Big S have on fabian or anybody else who miracously beats him. I guess it would have to be over 1:30, it could maybe go under 1:00, in his first year, when actually trying, he lost only like 40s on martin in ToC

If cancellara is on form he will certainly win this. But dont think he is. If he was in very good shape, he wouldve won the first stage. But lets see, it will be an exciting stage.

A Cancellara in best form would distance everybody by at least 30 seconds on such a hilly course. But he is not yet back at his best, so will be an interesting test to see whether he can nevertheless collect this win or not.

1. Rui
2. Cancellara
3. Gusev
Gesink in ToC form.. however Verbier and Lugano didn't indicate.. disappointing
4. Moser
Kreuziger
5. Danielson
Is Levi back at his best?
Dekker? seems far away from his best, would suit him perfectly

I think Cancellara can win this. He's recovering and he only lost a prologue (with a big climb) to a super-in-form Sagan (who is a not a bad climber and has good bike handling skills) - I think that shows he's on track for his late summer goals ;) and much better than in Bavaria.

Bottle - I doubt he can get this, his form looks pretty bad, and maybe he'll have some stuff on his mind that could affect his focus...

One thing is for certain: F. Schleck will be much lower on the GC after tomorrow.

Most probable result: Cancellara but by a small margin.

As for Gesink don't go too much by his Verbier/Lugano performances as he came straight off altitude camp.

i am confident that rui can keep yellow today, kreuziguer hasn't been itting that well for years now and the closest guys on GC which are better itters then costa are over 30 seconds away.

he also doesn't seem the type of rider who crumbles under pressure and even tho is still young he already has a lot of experience.

so did Rui Costa which did an altitude camp for the first time in his career, honestly him not being in super form is a good thing as it means he is on the right path to peak for the tour.

gesink ofc, costa will be at the tour hunting for stages and helping piti and cobo so if he isn't in top shape at the tour and peaks for the TdS instead i would actually even say it is a good thing as the way he is going he may win this race which is better then maybe a stage at the tour.

gesink on the other hand can fight for the win at the tour so the TdS is "irrelevant" for him.

Maybe Kreuziger will be extremely motivated after his giro disappointment. What's up with Velits in this race, did he crash in an early stage or something? Maybe just getting into the racing in the first few stages and then going to go full pelt in the final three stages?

I hope you're right, but it's been a long time since he's done a good ITT. In pre 2010 form he would probably be top 10 or even top 5 on a TT like this but nowadays he rarely breaks the top 20 in ITTs.

Strange that Sky riders are so good at tt'ing yet Lovkvist's performances have got worse since he joined?

Weird odds

1.45 Cancellara
11.00 Kloden
14.00 Moser
14.00 Leipheimer
14.00 Fuglsang
21.00 Costa
23.00 Kreuziger
26.00 Gesink

Cancellara is not that big of a favourite -.-

nah i prefer to keep it real, like i have said before i don't think costa is a rider for GT's. Classics and 1 week races like this one seem to be his thing.

would be nice for Fabian to take the stage and for Rui to keep the jersey by doing a great ITT, pushing back Franck and the others who are near him on GC

Cancellara for the stage. Kreuziger to barely take yellow.
I hope Frank can show some improvement in the longer time trials.

Just hope bottle doesn't win this.

I'll go out on a bit of a limb, and say that after this stage 1-2-3 in GC will be Costa-Gusev-Kreuziger

wow no fuglsang in the top 3... well we will see about that.
He will probably never get a greater chance of proving he should be the team leader in the TDF, I expect him to finish up there today.

Where does all the love for Fuglsang on this forum come from though? His best result in a GT was the Vuelta 2011, an 11th place, behind his domestique Monfort and with an arguably "bad" field. Of course he had to ride a lot of GTs working for the Schleck duo I suppose, but still, he had the chance stay with Saxo/find a team with more leadership opportunities when they left.

But why are you bringing up a GT, this is the Tour de Suisse topic. He finished 4th here last year, and 3rd the year before. Do you really have to question where his love comes from?

Fuglsang has serious limitations in the high mountains, but this route has little of those. He is a really good ITT'er though, so he should certainly be mentioned for today.

edit. I see, the guy above does mention the Tour. Well, he's not going to do anything special there, I agree with that.

Yeah, he should definately be mentioned for today. He has a good shot at a high placing in the ITT/the overall here, of course.
