UAE is very weak in this race, as we saw today. Pogacar arrived alone in that group, while there were 3 Bora riders (plus Roglic earlier, four) or five Astana .

A large breakaway would have won the stage today. But they preferred to go for the sprint. Pogacar won, but they would have been content to lose against Godon anyway.

and 5 Astana
I think a big breakaway would have won today.

Why does Astana need five riders in that sprint? :tearsofjoy:
UAE couldn't control everything today, and INEOS wouldn't have been able to contorl a large breakaway either.

BORA's problem, as it has been all year, is that they are the strongest team and have four riders in for the overall classification. They almost never have the strongest rider, but due to they have so many riders in the general classification, they can't really rely on breakaways.

Someone on Bora needs to intentionally drop from GC to then go for a stage win via a breakaway.

It's the D-team, but probably they were also told to save energy today.

Today's stage was a big fail by Ineos. It was obvious that UAE were happy for the break to get the victory, so Ineos needed to put Godon in the break. I found their tactics to be baffling!

Col du Mollendruz tomorrow has never been done before in a race, but looks fairly tame, although relatively steep at the bottom. First this:

Then 2nd half (more or less from the middle of the longer 6% section) of this:

33k to go from the top. May be a day for the break indeed.

PCS's profile of the climb. After the first 3km it'll probably be a big ring climb for the pros. Even so, it'll be interesting to see how Pogi's form is.

Looks inviting to just repeat the stage 1 playbook. Go up just hard enough to get a reduced or better small group to escort you to the sprint and win.

Congratulations to Tadej Pogačar for winning the sprint.

Rogla reducing the peloton and isolating Pogi, the team to do the rest. That means that stage win is now likely a priority for Rogla, especially considering RBH has a rider second in GC. So basically everything they did yesterday and today was tactically sound, yet commentator going on an on about it on how they did everything wrong and hasn't got a clue on what is going on. Priceless.

So the question now is on where, will Rogla attack. I have a few ideas.

What amazes me is people claiming RBH is making tactical errors not beating Pogi. The same people claiming Lipo was a fool to not pull with Pogi. And the same people not even realising today it was Finn that got his turn and it wasn't really about Pogi.

Anyway, Rogla just waived that BS off, crossing the finish line, having a laugh.
