So, to recap, in three consecutive days, in the middle of a hard GT, we have seen Froome:

1) Ride off the front of a peloton in a small group and then put in a huge effort to hold off the peloton going full gas for 10km.
2) Drop all but two of the best climbers in the race on a steep and tough mountain finish.
3) Finish 2nd in a TT, the only rider getting anywhere near a real specialist who had been resting for the previous three days.

The guy doesn't even need recovery anymore. He's got so much power available he's probably just tootling along at tempo pace when everyone else is anaerobic. This is beyond anything Lance or Indurain did.

Ya this guy is looking like full on Lance mode, one needle in each arm, and one in each butt cheek

Question is does he have help on the inside of USADA like Lance did. That's the only way you can get away from cheating is if you got help from the guys doing the lab tests.

Sorry if this has been discussed to death, but...Has there been much talk about about Froome's efforts on the Mavic bike yesterday? Watching him toiling up Ventoux was like a nostalgic flashback to the infamous 2009 Giro zig zag.

(23.46)...
http://www.steephill.tv/players/720/dailymotion/?title=Last+5+Km+of+Stage+12&dashboard=tour-de-france&id=x4k8alt&yr=2016

I know people are saying that the pedals/cleats were all wrong but it just looked like he had absolutely no power in his legs at all. Then, as soon as Sky got a bike to him he was immediately a beast again. I had to laugh when Phil says "It's like the bike isn't even working" given all the recent speculation about motors. Is it crazy to think, "ah, so that's him without a motor"? It'd be a relief to discover that the world wasn't actually turned on its head in August 2011 and even though we now live in Biff Tannen's Pleasure World we can at least rest assured that donkeys stay donkeys.

According to the Mavic driver they handed him an XL frame. Froome rides a 56cm. He also uses Shimano cleats not the ones given. The explanation given was it was the first bike on the rack. Sabotage or French farce, take your pick.

was any advantage even gained running forward?.......meanwhile nairo was pulled along by a moto

Mark L

Was any advantage gained? Yes, the distance he ran was gained.

Cadel Evans lost the Vuelta because of a puncture on the final climb, he didn't get a bonus.

To be honest he probably gave himself a disadvantage by running up the hill as he was (probably) moving away from his team car - he would have been better off staying out, or running down the hill to get his replacement bike.

What happened at 15kms to go ? Froome was out of the saddle and he SUDDENLY accelerated as though the film had been speeded up - ITV4 replayed it - and Millar and Boulting commented that 'that was bizarre'

Anyone see it ?? could have been his motor suddenly went off and he didnt have control for a few seconds.

Just laughing at the other riders who seemed on the limit and saying look guys I'm only going at 50%.

To answer why people dislike Sky and Froome or Wiggins
People do not like to feel as though they are being taken for a fool
It is fine to see a full peleton of doped riders battling to see who is the best
the classic battles of the past won or lost in seconds or on one stage where one person has a bad day and others are super strong. Lance, Bruyneel, Ullrich, Contador etc all had bad days and good days and all went about it in their own way
l
Why Sky is so different is that they are in it up to their necks and still insist on the holier than though, we are doing it all through science ******.

I dont care if the whole peleton dopes - I expect it.
I dont really care that there are favoured teams of the UCI and ASO - there are favoured teams in every sporting league in the world
I dont even care that they are probably paying to have **** hidden away and covered up - that is human nature and has been going on since money was invnted.

What i do hate is the whole team led by Brailsford and his monkeys insulting my intelligence by trying to tell me that everything I understand about a sport I have been involved in for 20+ years is completely wrong and that they are all super athletes doing stuff no one has ever thought of before and that I am a fool if I question them.

That is what people dislike so much about SKY and by default their riders, their hypocrisy and outright lying and deceit.

So basically you dislike them because they have brought something new to the sport, going against its traditional values and in the TDF it has worked, whilst deciding they must be lying and cheating to do this

That Froome is lying is a simple matter of fact.

You guys can troll all you want with pages and pages of posts that avoid the issue, but not one of you has or will ever be able to put forward an actual argument that Froome isn't a serial liar.

Not sure how I'm trolling but whatever

Serial liar? Examples of where he obviously said something in order to deliberately deceive please. Try not to use a quote where he was just simply wrong about something

Any French speakers can give an accruate translation of this.

Itw de Lemond ds l'Equipe sur le problème des moteurs, ses doutes. Lance, Chris même cylindrée ?

Lemond: "les gains marginaux de la SKY, c'est que des conneries"

It is from L'Equipe today.

Apparently LeMond is calling BS on Froome and Sky's so called marginal gains.

Is this the article? http://www.lequipe.fr/Cyclisme-sur-route/Article/Greg-lemond-rien-de-pire-que-le-doute/707526

The auto translation isn't very good, and it seems like a subscription article. Would have really liked to know exactly what Lemond is saying.

I must say I noticed two things in a Cycling News article that raised my eyebrows a little...wouldn't be surprised if in a few years we find out about motors or something else that's in use.

Well done for finding it.

Yes I am hoping a fellow poster will do the honours for accuracy.

He broke the rules.

So should the race be stopped for a bad blood bag and wait until the rider recovers?

Which is why they have the "official" Mavic replacement bike service and you have your teammates. He didn't want anyone those, alas he got a time bonus for denying all of those options.

Don't think it needs any great detail on translation;

Lemond: "the marginal gains from the SKY, this is bul1sh1t"…

Especially as only a few days ago they quoted a fan saying he took a photo of Froome's Garmin saying it read 175hr, didn't show the picture and it turned out it said kms

...strong winds from start to finish ... Quintana watched Froome disappear up the road in unlikely circumstances ...
Once again, no one seemed to have an answer as to why Froome was able to sneak away and gain time where it seemed improbable.

What's Froome got that they haven't is the question. He's got something. If it's something illicit, I'm pretty amazed it hasn't found its way round the peloton. It's been 5 years now.

It has been 5 years since Team Sky made its presentation to ASO prior to the race. No one has seen that presentation.

Brailsford was in San Francisco checking out genetics this year.

Armstrong won 7 in a row. All with the help if ASO and UCI. Sky seems to have a similar system. Brailsford and Froome allowed in to UCI Jury discussions!!!

If you fall because you hit the guy in front of you who fell over and your bike is unrideable due to anything - breaks, puncture, gear...is it your fault?
