They are so nice. It s absurd but somehow it draws me in. I don't want Frank to only be regarded as Andys' brother though. He's' had a successful career in his own right.Besides they had to join the RSNTLT squad as they still had a contract for them. Beides they now have a super team ( LA claimed RS was the best tea in the world and even before they raced Leopard were highest on UCI )

ah that is funny

I do like Frank - he has a sense of humour about him. Andy probably does too, just I think has an overinflated sense of self at times.....

well said. The British are good at whining so it's not really surprising that he is whining!

What on earth was I whining about.. I wasnt whining, i was just passing an opinion. And ACF would you like to stop stereotyping entire nations of people before your british-zenophobia lands you in trouble.

Thank you.

is this some japanese version of Ali G style interview, or it was staged?

if this wasn't set up,then the schlecks must be the biggest idiots i've ever seen.with all due respect.

i mean when you interview one of the most well-known pro cyclists on earth and you start with "who of who is who of you"?c'mon...
planned prank i say.

It's not staged, she's a Dutch (I think) actress, who's done several of these funny interviews. Actually a Danish singer copied her style for a tv show much like this.

But yeah, guess Ali G is the main inspiration...

You don't think pro riders give a lot of, let's say "interesting", interviews during the season. Not all interviews are done by knowledgeable journalists. And I guess that cycling as a sport isn't that well-known in Japan, so she could have fooled me. I actually think they took it extremely well, especially when a "journalist" from a normally very polite people, didn't show any respect and insinuated Andy was gay and almost constantly mentioned Frank as "brother". Glad they took it with a smile, lesser people than them would have walked out on the interview.

She's done this a thousand times already, and I don't think anyone has ever walked out on her. Although she's frequently quite offensive (not to Dutch standards, in Holland nothing is offensive).

She even fooled her own colleague, whom she presents another tv show with, with another of her characters. Apparently people are more gullible than you'd think.

Yeah, it's not staged. It is(or was) a very popular show in Belgium and Netherlands. They have done millions of these kind of interviews. Tbh I don't even think she looks Japanese, so I find it odd people get fooled so easily. Perhaps the Japanese dude that sits next to her distracts the guys getting interviewed.

I know but surely you can enjoy the nonsense of it. Nothing like it out there involving any other riders not taking themselves that seriously and having a laugh.

I'm quite certain there is if one looks hard enough.

I took time too. My opinion on him has been slowly building up with two years of hearing and reading the BS he says and watching him use the most frustratingly stupid tactics I can think of. It's not like I got up one morning and decided I hated him. I liked him in 2007-2009.

Ditto! I used to like him and was simply Disappointed that someone so genetically gifted rides like a moron and whines all the time. He is Soft, mentally and would rather go out partying then take his profession seriously. I was done with him when he was kicked out of the Vuelta....

Quiz competition between the brothers.

What is interesting is to see how little importance Fränk seems to give to his 10th place finish at the 2006 Tour, as he didn't even remember it. I recall that some forum members have pointed out before that pro's in general do not excessively care about GT top 10's.

To be fair technically he finished 11th IIRC before Floyd was disqualified

The most striking thing, of course, is that Andy doesn't know Fränk's birthday. He doesn't even know which month.

Fake. Or he's extremely stupid, which honestly wouldn't surprise me.

To be honest I don't know the birthday of my sister as well :p It's either the 9th or the 10 of January :p
Me neither, but like you and pretty much everybody else I have a vague idea of when my siblings' birthdays are, so that I can ask my mother in advance.

Andy has to be kidding.

I think Frank comes of quite clever there.

He should at least associate it with AGR or something.

Having said that Andy probably thinks that everyone has their birthday in May when he's at the Tour of California Nightlife.

Watch the Schleck's closely, Frank in particular. They know who Ushi is and have a good idea what to expect. This isn't the type of interview that would go for long if you didn't!

Edit: There is also a language barrier that looks a bit deliberate.
