And we also doesn't know if they can or will keep all their current best riders. Are Van Summeren, Maaskant, Martin, Millar, Zabriskie and Kreder for example all staying put?
I know the Dutchies have just signed for two more years. Although I don't know about the conditions if the team as such doesn't exist anymore.

Wouldn't that go against his current trend of building for GC rather than classics?

In my mind they would be better off going to Saxo Bank or Team Sky. Or even Team Schlux.

Hm, It's just something that Boonen said about the type of riders he would liek to see signed. QS have lost some riders, and the spring classics were a one man show even this year.

Anyhow, how are they building a GC team beyond signing Marc De Maar?

But Sky and Saxo could also do worse.

yeah but if the merger is simply the 4 best classics men from cervelo it cant all be bad news, 4 extra people wont take away to many opportunitys so long as 4 not so good people are released, I suggest:
Pate
Ricardo Vandervelde

Actually im not sure they seem to have a number of very good rider and then a load of crap who dont appear to be any better than american domestic level racers, fitting in 4 people should be no issue

this exactly, a load of crap like tim duggan and the ones mentioned, the talent gap is huge, and some of the riders are creeping up there in age.

My one concern, is it possible to manage all that talent? to spread the focus across the year so much with so many races to target, from the spring classics to all three GTs and so many riders wanting to take the lead.
I want to know where the young climbing star is to replace CVV (age 34) who has no results since Paris Nice 09.

I don't know really, that was just the talk related to possibly signing Ricco.

Isn't that supposed to be Dan Martin?

Then the question is what they want to do with Ryder Hesjedal. He's not young though only younger than VDV.

Kessiakoff was also supposed to be an addition to their GC oriented team but he has been struggling with exhaustion all year pretty much. He came from MTB and rode over 90 competition days last year and that was a little too much it seems. I wonder if he still has a contract or if he is open to the market. I wouldn't mind him going to Sky to team up with Löfkvist personally.

I was wondering what was going on. I expected to see something from him this year but he's been fairly awful.

I just got updated on this issue -even not a 100% confirmed, if the move from Hushov & Haussler is done deal, then it became evident the "real reason" for Sastre to departure from the team. I find unclear how this possible(IF)merge would ever work, having a powerful bike manufacture & sponsors blending with a team structure already established using another bike company, & having riders on both sides with contractual obligations to meet for the upcoming season....
exiting nevertheless but a bit complicated...

CVV came 8th in the 2009 Tour de France. Considering his injuries from the Giro, I thought this was the ride of the race.

He keeps crashing, but he's still got talent.

It would be interesting to know if Sastre's exit triggered the exodus or if he just saw the whole thing coming and was the first to jump

I wonder what the reason behind the (if true) 'implosion', collapse, downsizing of CTT is... Some have mentioned financial difficulties?

They started when, 2009? I find it hard to believe the budget they drew up before their entry into the pro peloton, did not look a number of years ahead. Unless the financial crisis had some unexpected impact on their finances?

Are some riders pessimistic about their chances to participate in major races since CTT does not want to apply for PT status?

I'm suspecting this is a decoy, and the real merger will be between Cervélo and Team Schleck.

I've always wondered how a boutique brand bicycle company could afford all that talent. It wasn't an mega-team, but still, how many R3s or S3s did they have to sell in a year to pay for Hushovd, Sastre and Hausler?

Just go to any ironman event and you will understand. I got a P3 too hahaha

Bad economy means less type-A douchebags who think they need an $8000 bike to do their first triathlon. Even some of the big triathlon events are taking a lot longer to fill up. The market has also been overrun by virtual companies selling Chinese frames that don't look and function much different than Cervelos.

You know some of the companies have to be hurting because they are currently offering huge deals. Buy a pair of Rudy projects and they will throw in extra lenses,a gear bag, helmet, t-shirt, etc. I wish they had that deal for the last pair of Rudy's I bought.

Has anyone an idea of what would happen to their automatic entry for the "monument" races in 2011(Cervelo is currently 13th on the world ranking list)?
Would the team ranked 18th get the extra spot or would the race organisers have an extra wild card?

mergers going on might at least sort out team sky's ds problem.

As for the rest, im assuming they are going to get into bed with the schlecks if so. Im more concerned about where this leaves the ladies team than the mens team to be honest. Although i imagine that financially the girls are much more cost effective.

Remember that the women's team was going on before the men's team was set up. It looks like they'll outlive their male counterparts too:

De vrouwenformatie - waarmee het wieleravontuur ooit begon - zou wel blijven bestaan.
This is good news, I was worried that if the team merged with Garmin we'd be left with the likes of Claudia Häusler wasting half their season racing US domestic races and not getting to do Trentino, Emakumeen Bira or most of the World Cup events, the same as how we've seen little of Amber Neben or Mara Abbott this year.
