I can perhaps see Hushovd doing the classics and then the Vuelta as sprinter as preparation for the Worlds in Denmark. He actually talked last year about possibly not doing the Tour the next couple of years to make sure he has a peak in form for Worlds. As it turned out he didn't skip the Tour this year but he might very well skip it next year.
Interesting, thanks. If this is a 1 yr contract that would be a risk, but the pay off could be worth it. Well, it works for Gilbert...

Awesome that Hushovd will be on Garmin. Can't wait to see his Argyle Champs jersey.

I think this was a chance for Vaughters to get a real pro to mentor his younger classics team for a year. . Maaskant/Farrar are still quite young. Is Van Summeren?

I actually don't think Thor will do the Tour next year. He talked about skipping it last year too, but that was not something Cervelo would accept.

Now he's been very clear he wants to win a Classic before trying to win a third green jersey and also focus on the Worlds and London 2012. His trainer said today that Freire and Bettini did not race the Tour those years they won their World titles, so they are definitely considering skipping the Tour.

Does this mean they'll drop those God-awful Transitions lenses sponsorship, PLEASE DO!

God-awful sponsorship? And I was under the impression that just about any company willing to put money into the sport was to be embraced with welcoming arms? Or has cycling rebounded to the point now where we can start rejecting sponsors based on the "nerdiness" of their products and commercials?

Perhaps it's the "I'm Tyler Farrar" ads rubbing people up the wrong way.

Correct. I'm still undecided if he's more annoying in his original English or in the dubbed over French. Both are extremely annoying... Sort of a reminder of the 'born from Jets' Saab bs that we had to put up with during the TdF a few years back.

You don't watch Eurosport, do you?

Hey, I find those ads as annoying as the next guy, but if they're required to get cycling on TV I'm all for 'em! I'd rather those than most of the non-cycling related ads (Think Fishing shows) we get on OLN in Canada!

Garmin next season...

In:
Christophe Le Mével (has this been confirmed?)
Thor Hushovd
Heinrich Haussler
Roger Hammond
Andreas Klier
Brett Lancaster
Daniel Lloyd
Gabriel Rasch
Andrew Talansky
Alex Howes
Ramunas Navardauskas

Out:
Ricardo Van Der Velde
Trent Lowe
Christian Meier
Svein Tuft
Steve Cozza
Danny Pate

Am I missing anyone? 27 on this years squad minus the 6 leaving so far, leaves only 9 new spots. With 11 new riders possible it would seem that either 2 more riders will be leaving or two neo-pro's will not be joining the squad next year.

I'm pretty sure Kessiakof is out. Velonation says Fischer is out too but I'm not convinced of that one because his renewal was officially announced. No word on Danielson yet. I think there will be a couple more departures.

I hadn't heard that rumor before, but Fischer tweeted the following "Sobre o assunto Movistar, como ja falei antes, estou feliz na Garmin e com contrato ate 2012!! Ok???" or after Google Translate "Movistar on the subject, as we said before, I'm happy with the Garmin and contract until 2012! Ok??

At least that's one less argyle jersey in the peloton.
