The first race of the World Championships. This Time Trial course is different from the RR circuit at the first climb - instead of following the Barwon they go straight up Mt Pleasant Road. It's longer and not quite as steep as the RR climb with a couple of flatter sections. The rest of the course is the same, including the downhill to the bridge and second climb.

from what I read the course is hard so I don't see phinney win, it's harder even than in 2006 I think

If that profile is right, there look to bee about 10 km of mostly flat/rolling terrain and about 5 km of sharp up/down on each lap.

Is that enough flat to keep Phinney in it with the climbs? Or is there another very good TT rider who will also be able to hit the climbs hard enough for it not to matter?

Both Phinney and Dowsett are a bit vertically challenged, so it will be hard for them... I think the Phinney fest might well be ruined by a fellow American, Talansky. Oliveira and Dumoulin have also done good TTs on undulating terrain.

eurosport isn't covering this live . . .

any english/spanish or portuguese streams you know of?

p.s. hily course so even tho i am biased i would say oliveira is in a better position over phinney. don't know about the others

Correction, its on metropolitan digital tv, not Australian tv, that would insinuate we'd all be able to watch it...
