how good of a chance has dowsett got?

Hard to say. It has a few more uphill sections than would be ideal for him, but the same can be said for Taylor Phinney who probably goes in as favourite. A podium would be a really good result, but a win isn't out of the question.

Surprised to see Sergent isn't riding.

Same, I would have given him a chance.

Oh great! Liggett and Sherwen are commentating the worlds for australian tv and we will have to listen to them for an hour preview on the event! Just great!!!

You're ****ing joking? I thought at least they would have Keenan like last year. It's not even on Eurosport so I can't swap to the lesser evils.

I was recording the first hour prior to the race but it looks like I don't need to watch it now.

After 1 Lap for the first group.

1. Durbridge
2. Mammini + 37"
3. Novikov + 1'08"
4. Van Overberghe 1'15"

Not quite sure of the exact gap to Van Overberghe.

Group 1 is now mostly complete:

1. Durbridge
2. Mammini + 48"
3. Van Overberghe + 2'11"
4. Sorensen + 2'18"
5. Novikov + 2'33"

There's still Mammini to come in though who should go 2nd.

Edit: Mammini has finished

Talansky should be reaching the first check shortly so it will be the first real gauge of Durbridge's time.

After One Lap

1. Durbridge
2. Dennis + 22"
3. Mammini + 37"
4. Le Bon + 1'02"
5. Novikov + 1'08"
6. Talansky + 1'12"
7. Van Overberghe 1'15"

Talansky is now through, he struggled badly on the first climb (11th) but made it up on the flatter sections.

At the Finish

1. Durbridge
2. Dennis + 45"
3. Mammini + 48"
4. Le Bon + 1'37"
5. Van Overberghe + 2'11"
6. Sorensen + 2'18"
7. Talansky +2'20"
8. Gomez +2'31"
9. Novikov + 2'33"

Dennis is through the first check at +27", he is in the same boat as Talansky I feel. Not everyone is enjoying this climb, I don't think Phinney is a certainty at this stage.

Thinking about the Women's/Men's TT, these climbs will not be as significant as they have and extra 5km or so of flat (with a few 90 degree turns though) so FC and Martin should be fine.

Also the weather is changing quite a lot. It was a mix of sun and rain during the first group but now it seems predominantly dry sun/overcast. The flags at all points of the course don't seem to be indicating much wind.

Dennis into second after one lap. Talansky is over the top of the final check, losing another 30" or so.

I like the look of the 19 yr old Colombian Gomez Pineda eating up that climb.

Dennis goes 2nd at the finish. Phinney off the ramp in a couple of minutes.

I disagree. Personally I see the climbs being quite influential which is why I am going to give mick Rogers a good chance tommorow. he said he is in the best tt form since he won his world title and he will climb better than FC and martin. i think he will top 3 tommorow.

Phinney is around +30s at the first check, not sure of the exact time yet.

Quuade was only 15 seconds down but drifted into the barriers and fell coming off the descent, the final bend before the bridge.

Yes, I thought this course would be too hard for him. Maybe he is saving himself? Durbridge's time is looking better by the minute.

Phinney will fare better on the 2nd half of the laps.
