Dowsett's tyre slipped off the wheel... How often does that happen?

Kittel is doing OK now but still unlikely to challenge the top 2. Oliveira is the only one still in contention and we will know his chances very shortly.

It took Flogget 18 minutes into the coverage to mention lance Armstrong and then Sherwen mentioned Armstrong 2 and 6 minutes after that!

Oliveira at 25 seconds in 3rd position, at t3. phinney will be the world champion and i think durbridge will hold onto 2nd.

Gutted.. bad luck for Dowsett. Phinney takes it

what is sad about the u23 is that we never get to see the jersey worn in any sort of competative enviroment. :/

How does a tyre slip off a wheel? I thought they were glued on pretty hard. is it the manafacturers or mechanics fault? Or just tough luck?

TSF, what were you saying about medals and australia? :D We were 2 seconds off gold! You'll have a good chance in the women's events!

BMC have another World Champion which is great. Durbridge was in the first group and to nearly win was super impressive.

Good race...

......and it's raining again.

Weird, its beautiful and sunny here - and I can just about see Geelong on the far horizon from my desk. Does look a little hazy over that way though...

Typical of convict labor. Shoddy work all around.

I hope Evans checks his tires before the RR. Otherwise I will have to pick someone else to win.

Not exactly impressive.

If Durbridge rode in dry conditions he'd pretty much have destroyed Phinney by a large margin.
Especially in the downhill and the way to the finish he lost pretty much.
Poor Durbridge.

Notice also Kittel and Oliveira were pretty close
Phinney has still a long way to go to become the all dominating destroyer that some predict him to become.

For now, he is just good, nothing more. Not great, not superb. Not today

Belgian kid Vanoverberghe said that he rode in the rain, but it didn't make much of a difference, as the course wasn't really technical. But Phinney winning by a 2 second margin over another rouleur is, indeed, far from impressive. I'm wondering what Michael Matthews could have done on this course.
