Radioshack just announced the team they're sending and they can be considered favourites. They have Cancellara, Devolder, Gallopin, Irizar, Oliveira, Rast and Roulsten. The time trial isn't that long, 14Km.

Which teams are going to be the favourites in the team time trial in the tour of Qatar?

14km at this time of year it will be a crap shoot between any of the teams with decent flat rider lineups and a couple of sprinters to add some punch.

Shame no prologue for Cav to fall over in.

They still have to beat the Goss, Greipel, Cavendish and Sagans of the world. But yes, they surely have a very good generation coming up, and not just sprinters if we think of Pinot, Elissonde, Jeanesson, Offredo, Soupe, Vichot, Bardet, Simon... They just seem to miss a top level time trialist
Well Démare already beat most of the riders on the list and though it would be a big ask, he would be considered a darkhorse against any of them (except perhaps Goss in a flat sprint) and will not get anywhere close Sagan if there is the slight hint of an incline on the finishing straight, he can beat them with the right amount of luck. He is certainly closer to the world class rider in his speciality than any climber in France at the moment (Pinot will get there in a few years probably) and our TTists (actually I don't think we have anyone that deserves that title in France at the moment).

Hoogerland was hit by a car today on training. He's in intensive care with broken ribs, and other injuries.

Only last week he was involved in a crash with a tv moto, in his first race of the season. That guy really has all the luck in the world...

When I read about the moto-incident I was being all "Not again!"
Now I'm just speechless!

But hey, at least it wasn't a French Media vehicle!

Christ... really looking bad. Not only physically but also mentally. Hoogerland was already a lot more afraid on the bike after the Tour incident. If he makes it back from this he's going to be the new Moncoutie...

Update on Hoogerland

He has five rib fractures, a bruised liver, some bleeding in the area surrounding it and some fractures to bones in his spine.

As a result he will remain in intensive care for several more days, and will have to delay his return to the Netherlands until next week. Vacansoleil DCM has said that he will be out for the entire spring season. It is as yet unspecified if he will be able to return in time for the Tour de France.
