Stein Bagger. He is in prison, I believe he got six years. Last news about him was that he was moved from an "open" prison to a more restricted one because he wouldn't follow the rules.

Stein Bagger, which is his name, is currently imprisoned serving a 7 year sentence for embezzlement and fraud.

Thanks a lot :)

Thought this quote was news worthy:

Fuglsang: Not anticipating Contador

Am I looking forward to riding for Contador? No, I'm not. I'll let you (the reader) conclude whether that means I don't want to ride for him or that I'm changing to another team.

It will be an awkward situation riding for Frank and Andy one year and then Contador the following (year). It will be a bit weird driving against your buddies.

Wow, very professional there by Fuglsang. Or actually, of course it's professional, in the sense that he smells money and he smells it somewhere outside Riis Cycling.

Yeah, I thought that to. Actually I think it's unprofessional even though he's leaving. There's just no benefit in making comments like that

Ah, the journalist asks him if he is looking forward to riding for Contador, knowing full well that he is not going to ride for Contador and that he can't say so. What is he going to answer? It's like asking "are you still beating your wife?"

The verbal trap isn't that insidious in either case. You can simply answer that you have never beaten your wife, or in Fuglsangs case "I'm still considering my option for the 2011 season". Just because you asked a question doesn't mean you have to give a straight answer

True. But on the other hand it means nothing, I can easily imagine Jakob riding for Alberto tomorow without any trouble. Everybody knows whats going on, some quotes in media doesn't mean anything. Acting like Gadret in TdF is a problem, not this.

Absolutely. Sometimes reporters forget their questions are not what matter and that they are in the end obligated to live with whatever answer it brings them. Fuglsang indeed showed his attitude in this case.

Didn't know where this should go so i thought id post it here. Mike Tomolaris (SBS host) just announced via twitter that SBS would be broadcasting 8 stage sof the Vuelta live instead of the 4 they promised at the end of the Tour de France.

Mike Tomolaris on Twitter said:
Baby Steps:SBS to screen eight LIVE stages of Vuelta across four weekends starting with TT at 5.30am on August 29. #vuelta

This is good for Aussie viewers we are finally getting some live cycling that isn't the Tour de France or Paris-Roubaix......

Er, it is, but 5.30am? And I'm taking that's EST. You sure? My calcs take that as a 9.30pm start in Spain. I know they have late hours over there, but still... Would be a scheize if it is - that's 3.30am for me.

Any idea which stages?

Ignore that. Just remembered I can read the Spanish on the Vuelta site and yes, apparently it is a 9.15pm local time start. Fancy that.

Still, would be great to know what stages they'll be showing.

An article today seems to suggest it is indeed very possible that Fuglsang stays w SBS. I think both articles indicate that he has not yet made up his mind and that he is just as much focussing on his role as on the money...

In this article he is basically saying that Contador will obviously have the role Fuglsang hoped he could get on a team without the Schlecks, but that he at the same time wouldn't be aiming at real captaincy already the coming season. And so that one year supporting Contador could be a good option.

Fuglsang would have to make some major improvements before Riis would make him captain in big races.

Ah, like Giro d'Italia for example - where he was supposed to be the captain last year but had a bad crash (either days before or during , don't remember which) or this year's Tour de Suisse - where he was the captain, but "only" got third... Ok, granted Suisse may not fall into the category of "big" races - but still.

I don't remember what the plan was for this year's Giro (it was Fuglsang or CA Sorenson as far as I remember), but obviously Richie Porte's riding changed those plans.

As for "major improvements" I think it's mainly a question of fewer mistakes and he'll be with the top riders all the way through... Major potential in that kid IMO.

It was last year's Vuelta he was meant to lead, but then he had a bad crash with a tanker in stage 4, and as a result lost time in the early mountain stages. He got 2 2nds and a 3rd I think, including one in a high mountain stage, behind Cunego and before the heads of state. I don't think they expected him to fight for GC though; stagehunting was a plan for once he'd dropped out of contention - especially as everybody knew the Schlecks were going to clear off for Worlds prep. Remember that not every team leader has to go for GC.

At the Giro this year Chris Anker Sørensen was meant to be the leader, but again they weren't expecting a big GC performance; stagehunting and taking the win on Monte Terminillo was as good as they expected, and after that he was sacrificing himself for Porte.

Yup Vogelenzang had a lot of bad luck at the wrong moments.

Though I'm not sure what was wrong with him this Tour. I know he worked for Schleck, but I expected him higher, at least as good as Navarro was as domestique. A good Fugslang could do that to.

But ok, he came through a bit at the end of the Tour, in the Tourmalet stage.
