This is breaking news stuff, The awesome Jens-A attacking someone with doping insuantion. :p :D

nah,it's just kittel who piszed me off.nothing against the practice, pretty sure that it's healthier and works better than my stupid coldrex tablets.

on the long run, kittel will be proved wrong when he will sign with astana in 2019:p people change. people grow up and stop being whiners. just look at phil, who would have guessed back in 2005 that he will become best friend forever with vino and rebellin?
kittel, the great nation of kazakhstan is awaiting for you.

Eeh... guys... what's this stuff about UV lights?

And I hope this ain't clinic-stuff!

It is clinic stuff. Supposedly removing blood and treating it with UV lights then putting it back in is suppose to boost performance. Something about boosting red blood cells or oxygen or something like that, I forget. But anyways, probably a better discussion for the clinic.

You mean the procedure that wasn't even illegal at the time he did it and definitely doesn't enhance performance?

Definitely doesn't enhance performance? Prove it.

That's not the way it works, you have to prove it the other way around. Which it hasn't been. No research has shown effect from this UV-treatment, which by the way was invented to kill bacteria.

Keep in mind that the blood is extracted and inserted straight afterwards, so it's by no means blood doping. Obviously it's illegal now as anything concerning withdrawal and reintroduction of blood isn't allowed.

i found it hilarious that you think they done just that practice there.
remembers me of that joke on tv with the guy showing to the officer a dead cat in the trunk while he had a dead prostitute on the backseat. and he got away with it lol

some of you sometimes can't see the big picture.

I do? I was just saying that the UV treatment itself is humbug, and so far that's all we know they did. Whether they did anything else as well is a discussion for the clinic.

No, you stated something as a fact, so you are obligated to provide evidence to back it up. You said it "definitely does not enhance performance". So you need to prove it. I don't know for sure whether it does or doesn't, but it sounds pretty shady. Why would someone who is so staunchly anti-doping participate in a practice involving the extraction and re-infusing of blood? Was he even vocal about doping before he was found out, or just afterwards in order to save face?

Kittel voicing opinions particularly about Astana

“We need new principles,” Kittel told Het Nieuwsblad. “I don’t get what the ethical position of the International Cycling Union (UCI) was late last week when it decided to give Astana a World Tour license with the Kazakh as team manager. At present there are no definite rules. There is, for example, Jonathan Vaughters, who I think is fighting for a clean sport. On the other hand, he confessed in the USADA report that he too was a doping sinner.

“Solutions must be found, but they are not there yet. As an example there is the manifesto of several major newspapers…I find that a good initiative.”

“I would never go. Never. Money is not everything,” he said. “I need to feel good in a team. I already heard rumours of Astana about what type of team it is. The Kazakhs, even the non-riders, simply have a different mentality.”

there is no tv money in cycling  that's why you see so much cyclign on tv, because it's so cheap to show

about disc brakes on road bikes, that's what a little italian wheels maker told me: Uci biggest sponsor is Shimano. Shimano still has to develop and promote a road disk brake. So Uci is still waiting to give the green light to disc brakes for road bikes.
As soon as Shimano gives the nod, the Uci will say yes to disc brakes for the road.

and it will not be for 2013

Wait till 2015 when the GT rights are up for renewal. Sky and BT are going to be fighting for anything and everything in the next few years. If Wiggo, Cav, Froomy and Co can keep up the wins expect one of them to pony up some big money (in cycling terms) for TV rights.

the rights for the tour will be high, but nothing else and those rights are with aso, teams won't get anything from it and uci have no say in it either
