Ceramica flaminia will be the b-team of .... SAXO BANK-TINKOFF : http://jornalciclismo.com/?p=28771

wut wut wut those appear to be some awesome news for portuguese development.

apparently the team will be licensed in portugal and has already hired antonio barbio, rafael reis and pedro paulinho (sergio's younger brother and current u23 champ) and amaro antunes is also rumored to be signed tho i think that will be harder as prio will prolly want to keep him with mestre leaving and vitorino retiring( iirc)

Reis had a disappointing year the u23 but he is only 19/20 so he is still young, i have big hopes for him

New Australian Nationals course has been announced. It is far less selective.

EDIT: Maybe not far less.

Road Race course.

The RR is actually harder as at least now it's close to 200km.

Perhaps the length will make it harder but don't underestimate the lack of climbing taken away. Climbing km are nearly always more influential than length of overall race.

If I'm right they are doing 14 climbs instead of 16, and the final 112km are identical.

All the change really does is make it easier for rouleurs to get away early, the final part will be just as (if not more) selective.

Phil Gilbert going to the Tour Down Under...great news for the race.

That's a bit strange, probably wants to win as soon as possible.

Other good news for you ACF: Boonen might do Tour Down Under or Tour de San Luis next year.

Phil will take 3 or 4 stages if he has any form (as long as the Prince of Wilunga doesn't show up).

I'm not familiar with the Tour Down Under course, but isn't there only one hilly stage with the remaining stages being flat?

Well Stage 3 actually includes more climbing, but at smaller gradients. And for me suits Gilbert better than Willunga itself. It's kinda a stage for a break holding like this year or EBH / Sagan / Gilbert winning.

Stage 2 is much harder. It's new, and it has this climb at 7 k from the finish line.

The TDU actually looks to have a pretty good parcours this year.

willunga could very well be too long and hard for gilbert, although usually he's in form early.

I thought that immediately.

But then if Gerrans can make it. So can Gilbert.

This might be within Gilbert's remit. This, on the other hand, I'm pretty sure isn't.
Are you sure? I remember they seemed to climb very slowly with Martinez trying to distance the others for a while and Gerrans kept coming back and won the sprint. It's not like Gilbert couldn't do the same against Pate, Martinez and Arrieta (?)....

The "It's too hard for Gilbert" question is coming up in every single race thread.

Yet the same people argued that Gerrans was a favorite for the WC lol. Or even better, Nordhaug.
