He is certainly capable of a stage win. I remember watching our last stage win live in `92 when Roche won and it would be great if it could happen again and get cycling in the news over here for a change. I agree with Kelly as well when he said Nicolas Roche would be better off going for stage wins as well than to be obsessed all the time with doing a good GC. For me he is at a crossroads with his career and I think he has to make a decision one way or the other what type of rider best suits him. He did a good Tour and Vuelta in 2010 but last year he disappointed. Just recently he struggled quite a bit in Trentino and finished behind his 2 teammates Gadret and Dupont. He is doing California so we will see what he can do there on the Mt. Baldy stage and if his form is picking up.

What happened to Roche in Catalonia? The stages there were ideal for him yet he seemed off the pace and then retired.

I see Dan Martin and Nico Roche as being pretty similar riders - punchy, good climbers but not good at flat TTs. Maybe Roche should be aiming at copying what Dan Martin does although he is a bit of a scary chap and i wouldnt say that to his face! Understandable that he fancied the GC after his promising tour in 2010, maybe he'll come into form in the next few weeks/months.

He's 25.

The velonation story on Augustyn suggests it's an "indefinite break", rather than a retirement. Give his body some much needed time to heal.

Didn't he have a necrosis issue from where he broke his hip or something? Very sad that he's having to retire so early.

I can only think of Pippo Pozzato right now. Anyone else free after this year? Maybe la Macchina(my nickname for Cancellara)?

Anfi is not going to be co-sponsor of the Saxobank team in 2013. They stay a sponsor, though. Link.

So no extra budget for Bjarne just yet.

Rumor is that Giro del Veneto might be back on 25th August with a new finish on Altopiano di Asiago, very nice location imho.

Bob Jungels says he will participate at the Tour of Luxembourg ... it's too early for stagiaires so did they invite LEOPARD TREK CT? So far the race is not on their official schedule. If they did get an invite, did CT Differdange miss out? They were always the only Continental Team to be invited. It would be pretty bad if they left them out this year, they have animated the race for years. Most recently Christian Poos won the mountain's jersey last year

Gasparotto got a similar situation few days ago while his parents were out to watch Giro stage at friend's place.
It seems they took away many medals/trophies.

Didn't see that on the news, was it widely reported?
