No tour for tommeke to prepare for the olympics it seems.

rough translation by yahoo:

The Belgian Tone Boonen, current leader of ranking of União Ciclista Internacional (UCI), goes to abdicate of the presence in the tour de France, to be able to arrive it to form cool at the Olímpicos Games. The Grand Boucle pulls out the 30 of June and finishes the 22 of July, only six days before on-line test of cycling them Olímpicos Games. “The decision is taken. I go to prepare me for the Olímpicos Games and will have to be well. Probably I will go to the Return to the Polónia [of 10 the 16 of July] to prepare me”, affirmed Boonen, in declarations given to the site of the periodical Het Nieuwsblad. Boonen, 31 years, has in the resume six victories in stages in the Return France. Bob Jungels says he will participate at the Tour of Luxembourg ... it's too early for stagiaires so did they invite LEOPARD TREK CT? So far the race is not on their official schedule. If they did get an invite, did CT Differdange miss out? They were always the only Continental Team to be invited. It would be pretty bad if they left them out this year, they have animated the race for years. Most recently Christian Poos won the mountain's jersey last year

Tour of Luxembourg is in Europe and 2.HC, so the rules are that Continental teams from the host country can ride, but all others must be from the WT or ProContinental levels. Therefore CT Differdange would usually be the only Continental team at it. Leopard Trek CT could go this year - however the UCI prevents teams that are too closely linked from competing directly for fear of collusion - hence why Chipotle Development can't race California against Garmin, and why Livestrong U23 have never been there before, but now that the Radioshack team merged with Leopard, they're no longer a satellite team; Trek-Livestrong and Radioshack were considered two arms of the same organisation if you like; so are RSNT and Leopard CT now in that position, or are they two different teams, enabling Leopard to ride their home tour?

The Fundación Euskadi is wide enough that they have got around this with Euskaltel and Orbea, though you could make a very convincing case for them not being able to race alongside one another.

Nah. They tend to work together quite closely, it was especially obvious when Igor Gonzalez de Galdeano was leading Euskaltel and Alvaro GdG was leading Orbea. Didn't like it, it doesn't feel right.

I was meaning in the eyes of the officials when it comes to entry lists.

Euskaltel and Orbea are clearly part of the same umbrella organisation and behave accordingly, but I think unlike Chipotle/Garmin and formerly Trek-Livestrong/Radioshack, were not registered under the same part of it, so were allowed to start the same races.

Honestly it is quite obvious that they are closely intertwined, they went to the same training camp in january, share coaches and mechanics.... Would be pretty sketchy if LEOPARD TREK CT were allowed to race

It amazes me how consistant he is, i dont know about the startlist, but still, after months of not racing, he is still getting good results in his first race. He trains like a warmachine though.

According to RAI, Renshaw is rumored to go back to Cavendish's last man role.

Didn't he sign a two year contract with Rabobank? Not that Sky haven't broken contracts before mind you but I'd be surprised if he's given up on his own ambitions so soon. Brailsford and Sky seem very keen on Thomas to be Cav's lead out man in the future and the biggest issue at the Giro seems to be Kennaugh as second to last man (as well as the rest of the train not having the same horse power as HTC). To be fair to him he's never done it before and Swift was supposed to fill that role but got injured just two days before the start of the Giro.

Lol, there goes Geraint Thomas classic career if that's true.

They definitely see Thomas as their big British hope for the cobbled classics so that won't be the case. I guess Cavendish might be a bit unhappy about not having a full-time lead out man, which is possibly where the Renshaw rumours have come from, although given Sky's long term Tour GC ambitions there probably isn't room for all three of Eisel, Renshaw and Cavendish on the Tour team. That's why the likes of EBH and Thomas will be important because they can lead out Cavendish and potentially provide some good help to a GC rider as well.

Apparently it will be with a national team. I didn't know they were allowed to race but it seems to be the case. I just wonder who they will put in it  Maybe Schlechter and Zangerlé can follow at this level but that's about it

So which thread do we go to to geek out about Hesjedal winning the Giro?

If he goes to the final TT 1:30 down on Basso he can do it.

Where are the Ryder fans?
