Sprick, Huguet, Curvers... bring on the WorldTour!

I agree: their signings weren't exactly "stop the presses" news, but then look what Gilbert and Thor have done for BMC, and I understand the season is not yet over. Hey, a world championship and Olympic gold medal could change the way I look at things.:D

Yes, again, that Argos could make the World Tour roster if they really want it. EE may not be around, so there is one open spot. Any more?

Red Number?

RedheadDane is slow. RedheadDane just realized that Kessiakoff is wearing the red number today. Kessiekoff won the Fighter Prize on stage 8. Shouldn't he have been wearing the red number on stage 9?

Time trials are not suited to appoint a Fighter Prize.

Yeah. But shouldn't he have been wearing the red number during the TT? And then just nobody wearing it today...

Matt Brammeier (OPQS) has decided not to take his appeal against Cycling Ireland's Olympic selection to the Court of Arbitration for Supports. His initial appeal against CI's selection was successful, only for them to pick the same team again.

Ireland has three slots in the Olympic Road Race. It also has three World Tour riders. Two of those riders, Dan Martin and Nicolas Roche were selected, but Brammeier wasn't. Instead, David McCann, a 39 year old on the RTS Asia Continental team was chosen. And Sam Bennett, a 20 year old rider with An Post Sean Kelly was chosen as the reserve.

McCann has been a strong rider for many years, and Bennett is probably the biggest young talent in Irish cycling, but to be blunt about it, McCann's time is past and Bennett's is yet to come. Cycling Ireland used a ridiculous points system to determine who took its slots which placed more emphasis on decent personal results in very minor races than on the kind of experience a domestique gets in big races.

Brammeier has won the last three national road race championships. If I was him, I'd be very annoyed.

Although I believe Brammeier should have been selected, I am glad that there is still an athlete that is not taking a case to CAS/TAS.

Cannondale Liquigas... Might just be me but, I think it's slightly harder to say.

Garmin on the attack

And... ehm...

At the start of stage 10 in Maçon the riders were clearly in good spirits, with Dave Zabriskie providing the waiting media with a dance outside the team bus and David Millar saying he would aim for the day’s break.

Why'm I not surprised?

This might be the last year of team Netapp. There is a high possibility, that sponsors will withdraw, from cycling :/

So one year they pay a ****load of money to the Giro organizers to participate at cost of Acqua & Sapone and the next year they pull out.

The joy of modern cycling.

Rabobank have signed Merijn Zeeman, the main trainer/coach for Argos-Shimano. They probably saw their own Tour results, and thought "we can always do worse, look at Argos!" ;)
