I'm usually a 'dont you dare give him a single turn' guy but surely in this situation is better for Visma with van aert against MVDP for the win than playing games
I also think it's completely reasonable for Van Aert to back his sprint against Van der Poel. WvA is terrible in group sprints atm but that looks more out of fear than anything else, I'm sure he still has some speed there

G2 is Vermeesch, G3 must be some of the riders from the morning break

Ah yes, you are right, haven't been following. was eating and other things till now.
The gave that G1, G2, info, whilst showing G3 and the peloton in the background. I figured G3 was G1.

Even if he doesn't back his sprint, do you want instead to back Laporte from a bunch sprint?

Also, solo leaders or leading groups can have a tough time holding off the peloton in the last 35 Km of this race, so Wout needs to work to help them stay away. Plus I don't think MDVP would just drag Wout all the way to the line.

Hard choice between the idea that everything is rigged and the guy being an idiot. Both are plausible enough.

He can hardly hope for anything better than 3rd though.
He had enough reasons to work and secure as big gap to the peloton, as possible.
Absolutely the same as Omloop.

So it seems Van Aert and MVDP are away. yet somehow the commentator trying to talk the viewers into believing the peloton has a chance? Seems disingenious to me.

Regardless of the outcome Wva probably needs the hard kms such as the last krmmelberg. Too bad for him that he almost certainly becomes sick afterwards.
