That must be demoralising for all the French riders, fans & media.
Tbh, he was right. I didn't expect he would win (not to say so easy).

He is too British to leave Sky I think, who else would put up with those sideburns.
How does one be too British?

Sign me up when you tell me!
How big a priority is dental flossing and decay prevention to you?

Haha, imagine Geraint cycled over to your house and just stood there watching you.

I sure hope so. If either SuperG or the TopDawg were to win
at world's it would certainly mean also winning the Velo d'Or.

Double pronged attack on RR and TT? Geraint would have beaten TD in the last TT had he not eased off.
Deutschland Tour and ToB warm up races.

Wonder where G got the time to fill 320 pages? On those transition stages in the first week maybe ... :D

I thought he might do it last year if Froomey got sick/crashed out.

According to Repubblica friday, speaking after Kortrijk Koerse, he said that his main target for 2019 will be the Giro and he confirmed that he'll extend with Sky next week.

Thomas has, to the suprise of probably very, very few, resigned with Team Sky through 2021. I wonder if we can assume that these quotes were accurate, that his quotes about targeting the Giro are as well. Do the rights of defending champ trump the rights of the potential record-setting fifth victory by the most dominant GT rider of recent years?

We will never see it but I'd love to wonder what is prescribed in his contract. Salary yes, but also leadership guarantees. Though as many have said it might not have taken much to see Thomas stay at Sky.

Too early but I am already looking forward to the potential for drama in 2020 as Froome's contract is up and Thomas has one more year.

Giro - Vuelta double, why not?

He may target Giro but I think he will start the tour, as support for Froome

Which means no Vuelta

G not top Dawg at TdF :D
https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2018/oct/30/geraint-thomas-tour-de-france
Thomas recalls how, before the team time trial, he was told he would be left by the other riders if he endured a puncture or a crash. Only Froome, trailing Thomas by 52 seconds after two stages, would be protected. Thomas “sat there and stewed” before saying, “That’s a bit ***. *** hell, guys, could you really not wait for me?”

He nods. “I was frustrated because I thought I was also a protected rider. But it’s not a decision they took lightly. They would have thought about it and debated it. I said my bit, and they said, ‘No.’ So you have to accept it. The likelihood [of a puncture] is really slim but at the time I thought it’s a *** situation. Yeah, it dragged me down a bit, but you let it go.”

After stage nine, a brutal day on the cobbles to Roubaix, Thomas had moved up to second, more than a minute ahead of Froome, but he was reminded of his less exalted position within Sky. “It was really hot in the hotel but when they put the air-con units on for all eight riders the electricity tripped. So they said: ‘Only one person can have it – Froomey.’”

What a nice article. Thank you for that. Thomas really seems like a nice fellow, and I especially appreciate his honesty about the behind the scenes friction that must have been there even though many people seem to think it wasn't.

Winning the Tour has solved that. Next season they will wait........well you would think.

G's comments contradict the "we'll let the road decide" comments from SDB & Sky
After stage 9 & on first rest day -
https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...eam-sky-jibe-hits-back-stage-10-a8450641.html
Chris Froome insists Team Sky's leadership at the Tour de France will be decided on the road.
...
Though Sky have reiterated that Froome remains the team leader, Thomas has so far been given licence to race for himself ...
Asked if he had spoken to Froome about it, Thomas added: "We've kind of spoken in general about things. And yeah, he's keen for me to try, if I do have the chance to stay up there. But we're honest with each other."

Honest?! :D

Well if G does the Giro, he'll be a dom for Froome at TdF, so ... no waiting! :)
