Gerlach has now removed that posting.

He removed that post...added another about "not wanting to rat out his friends...but Levi really isn't my friend anyways'

He then removed that one with 'what i meant to say was day 8 feeling great. Busy weekend ahead!'

....very....very... odd

Trent Klasna

One of the youngest chargers I ever raced against. Overheard several of his teammates complaining about the blatancy and this while he was in his early twenties. Don't know if any of it is true but he would get alot a crap from the pros when he wouldn't pull thru hard enough...fortunately they left the other amateur (me) out of it.

I was on the sidelines near Gerlach at the Schlitz Park race at superweek the year Levi lapped the field multiple times - solo (1999?). Gerlach had dropped out of the race and was screaming EPO, EPO, EPO at Levi every time he passed.

Nice public display... and unforgettable.

now that is funny..

Well, their coach is convinced Basso and Evans are riding clean! Now, that unbiased opinion is persuasive - good reporting work, cyclingnews!

Sassi convinced Basso is racing clean

Despite Basso climbing the Passo del Mortirolo eight seconds faster than he did in 2006, before he was implicated in Operacion Puerto, Sassi insists that his performance was believable.

"I don’t think people should doubt Ivan's performance. He's changed a lot. I totally trust him, like I totally trust Cadel," Sassi told Cyclingnews.

"The power the lead riders put out on the Mortirolo yesterday was about 420 watts. That's about six watt/kg, at the limit of natural physical possibilities."

"The data people should reflect on were the times the riders set during the Plan de Corones time trial. The data showed that the strength to weight ratio of the best riders was somewhere between 5.1w/kg and 5.3w/kg. That's low. It's as if they all rode the 100 metre final in the Olympics in 13 seconds. I think that is enough to confirm that cycling has changed."
Looks like he got the "don't forget to mention that cycling has changed" omertà memo.

Evans hinted yesterday to Cyclingnews that something affected his performance mid-way through the Giro d'Italia. He was extremely strong early in the race but seems to have faded, while his some of his rivals have got stronger.

"Cadel suffered a bit on the Mortirolo because he perhaps didn’t choose the right gears," Sassi pointed out.
Yeah, it wasn't because something went amiss with his "recovery program", it's because he forget to check the stage profile and didn't choose the pancake gear. These guys are not nearly as polished as Armstrong and Bruyneel. At least "lost weight from cancer" sounds plausible. But, "didn't choose the right gears"? After how many 100s of thousands of miles of training in mountains over how many decades?

What better evidence of lying is there than someone coming up with ridiculous off-the-cuff excuses like that?

Just got the text of his posting:

"Gerlach joins Federal inquiry! I remember when Levi was young and he used to buy EPO from Gaggiolli. Yeah i loved to get high, but when the **** hit the fan, only a real ***, digs deeper! I can't wait to tesstify in Congress. I'll give up every champion from 95 thru 2002. It gets worse. Cool, California, we remember T, you'll B there too!"

This guys sounds like a real crackhead. Wake me up when Tyler Hamilton decides to sing.

And by the way, as was previously reported falsely, Armstrong's ex-wife has not been cooperating with anyone.

She hasn't even been contacted by anyone about these allegations.

I have a feeling this so-called investigation is going to wind up like the Hindenburg...

Yep. it's all about the money trail. How careful were they with their payments? Was it all cash?

Good old Gaggioli, the guy who attacked a rider with a 2x4 after a race. Keep your hands on your wheels--probably your wallet as well--when you are around him.

Gaz was a total douchebag rider. Not only was he a doper he was a dirty rider. He would slam on his brakes in the corner of crits and try to sit on your handlebars.

You too? When we pushed back and our little, Irish amateur sprinter nuked him, Davis and everyone else he squealed about being pushed off! I weighed 140 lbs. and outaged him by ten years. When he left, swearing in Itaish; I asked him which conditioner he used to keep his hair so shiny? He remembered that the next year at the cold, rainy Tour of Willamette and said I'd better watch out on the next corner. Unfortunately the next corner came after 1,500' of climbing and he missed our date.
Three weeks later he was winning big dollar crits on the East Coast.

Add the picture of Gaggioli, small frame flailing a 2"X4" and his long Italian locks sailing at Johnny Sundt and you've got a typical day in racing.

1991 winner Zanoli is dead right? One of the first wave of EPO heart attacks?

I don't know if he was one of the first -- he didn't die until the 2000's. But I'd be the last to tell Zanoli that he wasn't first at anything. He had those heavy fists, and I tend not to wear motorcycle helmets.

I was a sprinter also, got into it with all the sprinters but at least they were honorable guys. I can't say that about Gaggioli or Ken Carpenter. Carpenter was just throwing people around , I was 170lbs, former Marine and wasn't about to take it from anyone. He shoves me, I rode back into him using my helmet to push him back off the wheel. Told him if you ever take your hands off the bar to move me, I'll come off my bike at whatever speed we are doing and I'll ride your fat *** into the ground and we will go from there. The guy was just another dirty *** past his prime
