Yep, in the future, Contador should wait for rivals who forget how to shift.

Contador is 100% class and he's taking the other riders to school.

Yes... but next time could be in 2013! :D

He definately used the 20 seconds bonus on the flat on Rujano and 9 seconds on Scarponi well ;)

oh common!!!!! you must have lost some serious money betting on Nibali to dislike him so badly :D

I feel like a rebuke is in place for all those people trying to be novel by picking another rider than Contador in the poll.

I don't like it, but we all knew who was going to win this. Try to be honest when completing a poll. This one was a mess.

Sincerely,

contador isnt a bad guy but he is not 100% class IMO. Makes some weird errors occasionally. A class rider is someone like pinotti

Sigh....:(

Bad memories

To me that's the total opposite. Good memories. I had more than enough of the hug-a-Schleck-in distress 'unwritten laws' nonsense. "Stuff happens, deal with it".

And Contador seems to place the history and magnitude of cycling firmly above his ego. Travels miles by car when the comfy travel option disappears, just to pay respect to a race he wants to participate in, and was never gonna win.

I don't think he is a saint, but for me he's been a welcome relief from the leading-the-pack standard set just before his arrival.

So am I. He's won the Tour de France 4 times. :)

A little hipocritical are we? You are quick to condemn a man (Lance Armstrong) who has never tested positive or admitted to doping but forget about another (Bjarn Riis) who has admitted to EPO doping with his entire Deutsche telecom team during the 96 TDF which somehow he is still considered the winner. ;)

There has been a distinct lack of Italian wins at this Giro so far.

Pretty Spanish with Vicioso, Ventoso, Contador x2, Nieve & Anton. Also Rujano is Spanish-speaking.

And yeah, Contador isn't perfect but he hasn't got a huge ego like some.

I think a class rider learns from his mistakes, and Contador learned from them. Pinotti is a class rider? Yes, but when we speak about %s, then he is near 50%.

I'm neither. I've read articles about him, and interviews, in every language Google can translate. Despite Armstrong's attempt at character assassination, everything leads me to believe he's a quality human being. Just picture the day at the 2010 Tour de France when he walked up to the Radio Shack bus carrying gift bags with fancy watches, because he wasn't able to give them the thank you gifts the year before.

So Roundabout, I'm bagging the sport after Contador finishes the Giro. And ?I thank God in Heaven that I never have to read that kind of comment ever again.

And this is my last post in the forum, so cheers everyone. Congrats to Alberto on another great effort. Yes, I was moved when he dedicated the stage to Tondo, may he rest in peace.

For a second, I thought you were serious. :) I mean Bjarne, was Andy's manager for years.

Can you point to a specific incident or series of incidents which leads you to that conclusion? Let me suggest that if you reference Contador's behavior during the 2009 TdF as an example, it is more than likely *you* who is either trolling or new to cycling.

The only things I can think of where you can possibly hang your hat on is the second attack on the Zoncolan stage and chaingate from the 2010 TdF, and those are certainly debatable.

You may not like Contador, but will you provide more details in support of your proclamation?

Next 3 stages breakaways?

Yes they suck.(the stages that is) Im seeing 5 and 6% climbs. Then again, the gt needs a break from the mountains before Saturday.

Actually the poll served a very valueable purpose.

it allowed us to see how many posters are watching the Giro on this thread compared to last year which had an identical poll.

http://forum.cyclingnews.com/showthread.php?t=7585

Surprisingly only 3 more people voted this year compared to last year.

I'm just saying you gotta say 1 or 5.:p

I never liked Bjarne. I seem to remember a Vuelta not to long ago (last year) where Andy was thrown out along with Stuart O'Grady for drinking after dinner. Funny how a man's morals change isn't it. :D

Lol at the Eurosport commentators getting it completely wrong. Half of the time they were talking about Contador having an off day, seems to be struggling, doesn't look good to me, very low gear, big difference with Nibali, looking slow.. etc etc. In the end he beats Nibali's time by 34 seconds.

I agree with you. I think some are going to think that he isn't class because he basically has a 2-year ban coming his way next month.

do you really have to mention the possible ban on every single post you make?

please go to clinic if you wish to do so

It's going to be an interesting race between Nibali and Scarponi for second place. Even more so now that Nibali has accepted that nobody can beat Contador.
